I'm currently typing a persuasive essay on Jediism as a religion/philosophical teaching. I wondered if anyone had any ideas on what I should be sure to include in my essay. I could include anyone's facts/comments/beliefs about Jediism.

Personally, the thing I love about Jediism is that it allows you to bring in your own religious beliefs. It's a place where you can come and be who you are, not who your religion wants you to be. I am a strong Christian, but some of things I believe would have me cast aside by other Christians. I can come here and even combine some of my beliefs with the beliefs of other religions. I can do this without fear of rejection and persecution. Jediism teaches you to be you and to follow your own path (with guidance from the Force, of course).

That brings me to another point that should always be stated...there is no definition for the Force. The Force is different for every person. We each have our own ideas of what it is, how it works, how to connect to it.

In conclusion, I would say that to me, at least, Jediism is freedom.

That's just a fraction of my thoughts, lol.

Here is the thing, as I see it....

You define a Jedi to yourself... This is what we are about....

We have a few rules, a little protocol, to help smooth things out...

But, we never tell anyone how to believe, think, or act.... It would be against what we think a Jedi would do.. lol...

So, write what it is to you... Don't write what you think it is to all, cause odds are, somewhere, someone is gonna get pissy, and say, "nuh-uh, that's not what I believe"...

Good Luck...

(Hadi wrote, "That's just a fraction of my thoughts, lol.", I think this is true for many, you only get a fraction of our thoughts...)

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

Not sure if you have seen this video, but this would be one of my biggest things:

That and, the community existed BEFORE the 2001 census. As in, the community began from an idea (Kharis Nyteflyer's Praxeum, 14 December 1996), pushed into groups on role-playing games, moved to e-mail groups and finally found it's home in webboards around 1998. Now some might attribute the community going back as far as 1995 with online role-playing, and then Kharis Nyteflyer's Praxeum was the "added jolt" needed to spring forth philosophical groups. Which one you want to use is up to you. :)

I'm not sure what you should add, but here is an attempt to define Jediism that I just wrote up;

We are our thoughts, so refining how we think is refining who we are. For me Jediism is about 3 things: understanding the deeper reality of what we percieve as the world around us, lets call it the Forces of matter; operating our brains in the most efficient way to perceive, understand, store, access and process information as Knowledge; and finally using these tools to have a better relationship with our self and others. How this is achieved is up to the individual, but I think the paths are all a shared direction.

In my opinion!!

Introverted extropian, mechatronic neurothealogizing, technogaian buddhist.
Likes integration, visualization, elucidation and transformation.
