So current state of mind.
Exhausted (whats new), excited and pensive.
The recent law being tossed out by the supreme court has had my phone a ringing. The reason being, as some of you all know, I am a minister and I will tell you all this: Damn right I'll do it.
Some close to me will be upset to hear this; however, I do not believe that keeping people that love each other from making the commitment that millions of other couples make is an excellent example of equality and belief in freedom for all. So let the wedding bells ring, let the good times roll and hopefully.... let the hatred die and be replaced by at least understanding and respect.
I brought this to the two members of my congregation that live close to me last night and we sat down and talked.
As average jane and joes, we didn't really have a care on who was gay and who was not. We are all just people. Who you love and how you love them is your own business, why should we or anyone else care?
I have a person who is close to me whom I love, though they hate people who are gay. While I am not gay, I told them that liked, hung out with and supported those who are. This pissed that person right off and we didn't talk for a little while. However, it is the right thing to do.
The two whom I was discussing this with had similar stories. We then started to discuss the Jediist ideals concerning this. Of which there are none. We do not discriminate. We do try to do what is right. To be moral and stick to what you feel to be true.
The problem with that is at times, many people can have conflicting views on what is right and true. We left the discussion with lighthearted feelings of what is to come, but with the will to maintain our views and to love our fellow humans.
