That's a really informative article. I didn't know a lot about Einstein's spirituality but what I read revealed quite a fair bit.

Personally I agree more with Max Born than Einstein regarding free will but I understand Einstein's position. It is one I think I once shared.

My philosophy professor pointed this out back in 1980 in Philosophy 101.

You're debating the issue with someone who says there is no free will. You believe there is free will.

You say, "Since there is no free will why are you blaming me for believing in free will? Why are you even bothering to try and change my mind? According to you I can't help believing in free will and I'm powerless to believe otherwise."

:)

interesting. Let me take the there is no free will side.

"Since there is no free will why are you blaming me for believing in free will?" No

"Why are you even bothering to try and change my mind?" Because if i can influence your "free will", then it isn't free will.

"According to you I can't help believing in free will and I'm powerless to believe otherwise." Absolutely. It is things which aren't "you" which are responsible for a belief or lack of belief in free will.

Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.
