Either unlock the thread for all or stop replying.

Right guys? Do you think it's fair to have an open thread that only admins can reply in?

Admins adding their views after the fact might very well happen because they did not notice it was locked.

As the OP of that thread, I agree. Just let it die.

They need to check that, then, because admins adding to a locked thread after the fact could be considered an abuse of power, one that needs to be immediately checked.

I saw that....and I figured one of two things:

A. Being a Mod, the option to still hit "reply" is there, and it's possible to do so without necessarily realising the thread has been locked for the masses, or

B. Being a mod carries certain privileges and getting up in arms that we all have different levels of authority we can exercise is a bit of a dummy spit.

I've never had any reason to believe Adder is in the habit of "abusing" his power, so I'm more than happy to give it a pass and not start dusting off my torch and pitchfork.

That is a good point , i think the original poster asked for it to be removed and his rank set back to guest , neither of these requests have been respected , i say , soft delete the thread and set the rank of the member back to guest as he requested , surely it cannot be that hard to respect someones request ..right ??

I do not know who locked the thread but its likely that they did so to chill things out for a bit but would reopen it later when people had a cooling down period. That is not uncommon practice

The mods responding likely did not see that it was locked and just clicked on it from the new threads menu where it appears no matter its status unless deleted.

The reason rank was not changed right away is I wanted to try to talk to the member first.

You said you wouldn't in a private message. You said I don't have the right to ask you to change it. I had to say that I was going to take it to the council of you didn't.

And I, the OP, wanted that thread locked because it wasn't doing anyone any good. If it gets re-opened, then that just shows that I made the right decision for leaving. Respect doesn't happen here.

No what I said was I do not have to. Which is true. No request has to be honored. I tried to speak with you first because revoking membership is serious and I wanted to see if we could work it out. So please do not put words in my mouth. I never I said I would not. I said I do not have to which is true. Nothing has to be changed and I wanted to try to see if I could work with you beforehand but when you made it clear you did not wish to talk I honored the request.
