Disaster Relief Assistance was created by Alethea Thompson
If you need help finding resources to help you, PM me here with where you are (county and nearest town/city) and the crisis you are in (you were flooded out, job loss due to storm, etc) and we will help you put together a list of places you can reach out to and a plan to help you get through this. For immediate assistance out of flood zones, please get to higher ground (roof if safe) the moment the water starts coming into your home and defer to rescue efforts. #HurricaneHarvey

What has to come ? Will my heart grow numb ?
How will I save the world ? By using my mind like a gun
Seems a better weapon, 'cause everybody got heat
I know I carry mine, since the last time I got beat

I am just open to help anyone that needs it. I have some vacation time I can use so if you need help rebuilding or cleaning up I can try to line up a short trip down to TX to help. Otherwise let me know if there is anything I can do. (for reference I worked on Yale Security Disaster and Recovery team for a while while in STL) and am more than willing to put those skills to work, without having to carry a gun or wear body armor

Another way to donate ($10) to the Red Cross is by typing "HARVEY" to 90999. You have to have the word "HARVEY" to ensure your donation goes to Hurricane Harvey. There is flooding in Florida and wildfires in Oregon which a general donation to "REDCROSS" would be divided amongst.

Fundraising Idea:
Rosalyn and I promoted this idea during the Nepal disaster. Go out and do clean ups, collect cans and bottles to recycle and turn them into cash (this is something we can easily do in most of the United States, I'm not sure about other countries) and donate the cash to a Harvey Relief Fund.
You kill two birds with one stone- helping the environment and helping people.

Please share this information out, copy the picture post it to facebook/twitter, I don't care how you let people know- just let them know. This information, after the initial information is given out, is incredibly difficult to find. And oftentimes people forget that FEMA might have assistance for them.

Thousands of animals have been displaced by the storm, with many left behind in flooded homes while their owners fled to safety.
Houston SPCA
is the lead animal rescue charity operating in the affected area. Please consider donating. Every little bit helps!
