There is a book I just wrote that covers this topic along with few others. Maybe you will find it useful https://www.templeofthejediorder.org/forum/Jediism/116350-green-tea-for-your-midichlorians?start=10

I have struggled with my anger most of my life. When I became a jedi it kind of slowly went away. A few things:

1. Realizing Anger is not good and you need to change:
I didn't like be so easily to lose my cool and it made alot of people stay away from me and I didn't like it. The first step is to Realize it, accept it and change it.

2. Realizing Anger is a Raw emotion and it can be contained and released through many other channels within you.

At first, it's not easy and I will admit that willingly and I hope this helps someone. Anger, I believe is of the darkside and that is my own opinion. Can you always control it? Well, no that's not practical for anyone even the most mild mannered person. However, there is peace in knowing that you can contain it and release it. For example

A. Do Yoga, breathing techiques in Yoga helps release those raw emotions and is calming. Even ten or fifteen mins of yoga can help you remove that anger.

B. Working out or a Martial Arts, It's proven for me if I work out in the morning I am less irritable that when I don't go work out and this is from my perception from my wife and peers. Martial Arts through it's forms, cadas and discipline will help you control your anger.

C. Mediation and Mantras, Probably my most favorite I usually start my day before anything and turn on my oil defuser and put my earphones on and mediate and become centered for the day. Sometimes I will chant "Thoh" and sometimes it will be the simple Mantra, "I am ONE with THE FORCE and THE FORCE is with ME." over and over. It helps tremendously and you can use that Mantra throughout the day.

I meant to add this before but it slipped my mind. But you have look for Bob Proctor talking about reacting and responding.

Simply put it is this, and I know Jediism should be able to plant the seed to let that thought process germinate and grow, albeit with a lot of struggles. When you react to a situation, you lose. it isn't any simpler to say than that. My very agitated emotional state was ready to react. Thankfully I had a friend that helped calm my feelings enough to see that karma would bite me in the ass so hard that it wasn't worth it.

So the letter was my response. It was still pretty bad but there was no way I could pull all that anger in and stay sane. It needed an outlet and that again was the letter.

I have found a reference from Bob Procotor talking about Attitude. And within 4 minutes he touches on reacting versus responding.

I would recommend everyone to look for this and listen. If you choose to do so to get meaning out of it, he highly recommends listening to it for 30 days.

Also, and I will have to look at again is 177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class by Steve Siebold. I am sure there are more than a few points that can be incorporated into the teachings of Totjo.

It's easy to read more into things then actually exist. So I'd parse out any ideasthesia to assess any real intentions (truth) and then deploy appropriate countermeasures, change course to avoid the problem, or laugh at the sillyness of perception and behaviour!!!

In that process I am probably left with waiting until I either 'have' to act (fight or flight) or decide how best to act (deliberated action).

So while that is taking place I try not to be a victim of deliberate efforts to provoke, being distracted deliberately etc. Especially if its deliberate and pernicious. I'd have to always consider how being provoked is another form of letting someone else exert control.... and as they say who is more foolish, the fool or the one who follows the fool.

So basically a focus on what 'really' matters to oneself more broadly (eg how much time and effort should this really require?), developing knowledge of what are the impacts going to be of any action (planning, situational awareness, unexpected results etc), and how best to exert that action in that regard (strategy, timing etc).

The downside of my approach is you gotta focus on truth rather then self happiness, as the later is more rewarding but I think can be found elsewhere in ones psyche. If you let that slip then it starts to become quite judgemental, a veritable wolf in sheeps clothing type of scenario which can creep up and develop a tendency to feed on others :D

As a result my approach is not without its problems, but they can be limited to others misperception IMO, but that itself is not without its burden. I do prefer it though, then being a slave to provocation.

Remembering a problem with practitioner of contemplative practices might be a calm person who might have access to more mental power (either in absolute or relative terms to resting capability) as a result - so activation of an instinctual driven phenomena (especially by surprise) can have the appearance of a dramatic mood swing. As with all things, it's what we do with it that defines us. I'm an advocate of having a good working relationship with your subconscious to help mediate that process, such as healthy lifestyle, avoiding self harm or self contradiction, and generally being kind to oneself and others to tune into functional energy flows between those subconscious parts of the mind and conscious ones. Good luck!!

Easy: I remember that I can't trust anger to make the right decision.

With enough repetition, instances and intensity die down.
