Redemption. was created by JamesSand
This is more or less the plot to the brilliant 1995 film "Hackers"
But anyway -
Redemption.
Sacrificing yourself, saving the damsel (or damsellette? damsellessette? How do you make it back to the masculine?), etc etc.
Redeeming your horrible self for past atrocities...
Sounds good eh? Plot of many great novels.
But...they weren't written in 2017 (or 1995) When...everything you do, and have done, is recorded, and, at the whim of your detractors - brought up and displayed for all at a moment's notice.
So, given how easy it is to keep track of all our personal evils, and how much the public love a good lynching - Can we have redemption in this era?
Is there a time where we can say our goods have outweighed our bads?
There's the whole "clean slate" thing with justice.
You stuffed up, you paid your penance, and now you can take the albatross off...
Thoughts?

Says something about who you were as a first impression at least, so there is a context to demonstrate many things instead of stereotype usually had.

It doesn't seem to work in reverse though?
You can be a bright shining example of humanity - then you stuff up once, and they come and take all your medals away (Not that I was ever in the running for a Brownlow....)

I guess people try to see a mask and look for hints of what lays beneath. Getting caught is a sign of that person under the mask while success might not be. But it seems pretty normal unfortunately that if they cannot find anything negative then they'll probably not trust you anyway though
So maybe it depends how bad you've been and how recent!? Hehe, but people who judge harshly might do it as a defensive mechanism - maybe because they've been taken for a ride or maybe because they want to take you for one!!!!
I guess it's why some kids get into a lot of trouble before reaching adulthood, because society treats them differently to an adult and it kinda gets written off to some extent as being a 'kid'. Once an adult you sorta gotta wear it and move on.

I think that's a good point - people tend to be overcome with general amnesia very soon after someone did something bad - so in terms of redemption, that may very well work in the person's favour. Time's a healer - both for oneself and how we see others.
Do not look for happiness outside yourself. The awakened seek happiness inside.
