Better to run away and live in peace or fight back?

Sometimes I wonder which is really the better decision. Imagine if you were in a totalitarian, nazi, north korean-like country. You knew things were corrupt and you knew what was going on but what would be the best thing to do? Would it be best to run and live somewhere free, in the wilderness, free to live your life where you most likely would not be harassed?

Or would it be better to risk it all and try to fight back? Many would like to live in peace. Some say it's best to "tend to your own garden" so to speak. But sometimes I feel it'd be better to fight back because running won't stop the corruption around you and there's a chance you can get hunted down anyway.

Would it be better to stand your ground? Would you do it or take the chance to run off somewhere where you could be free.

I just know I would not be a part of it. Many would choose to be enslaved, mostly for their family's sake but I find it pointless because then you and your family would live a life of misery, being enslaved and might end up getting killed anyway, so it wouldn't matter anymore. It'd be preferable to fight and do something.

What would you do in such a state?

I wonder if in that situation it's possible to live in peace?

Depends what is happening. If something is happening to me then its less about whats happening to me (if I have that option to leave), and more about how likely is it to happen to others in the future which would make me consider if the problem is with me or not (it can happen LOL), and what other parameters were associated with the problem - otherwise I'd just leave. If its is likely it will happen to others or is happening to others then I'd have to seriously actively seek to understand the real nature of the circumstances around the problem, and base any decision on its merits - because my experience might be different, and the nature of the problem might be more complex then is readily apparent.

But your example is difficult, because often those sorts of regimes will punish anyone you leave behind because its more about them saving face and setting an example for those who remain under their thumb. From what I've heard a lot of the time the people who run are the ones who are already being targetted by authorities - which means that problem is less of an issue, generally speaking. Otherwise most seem to stick it out and make best by the looks of it, if not for lack of opportunity then for the above mentioned fear of what would happen if they tried. I personally cannot answer because I'd need more details, write a novel where you create a fictional regime and I'll get a better idea :side:

I understand. What I mean is if you had a chance to leave and not get detected by the Feds. No one would have known where you went. If there was a way to escape where you live in the wilderness, sail on a boat, end up on an island and have a chance to live in peace. Like Yoda going to Dagobah Or risk everything and fight back to end it. Or do something where you would bide your time like Obi Wan and fight when it's to your advantage, even if it takes years which would probably be better in the long run.

Well that's easy then, I'd use my transport to smuggle people in and out of the country and liaise with friendly foreign governments :D

Though old age may take them, nobody is immune from aging. You may not see an end to it within your own lifetime. I say take both actions. Being the crafty person that I am, I would find a way to make it seem as if I had died, escape, and work towards bringing the regime down so as to return to my home and restore prosperity. It's a lot more difficult than how simply I wrote it, but that would be my plan. I wouldn't even tell my family about it because those types of regimes have ways of breaking people to spill the secret.

Depends on the person. Since I am a mom of two daughters who can't fight....I would prefer to find a spot in the wilds to live and raise my girls.

However.

If I were just a single woman with no intention of being a mom, then id raise to the cause most suited to the situation.

But as it stands. My babies come first.
