You mean the thing that has saved my life twice? No thanks. I will take a dangerous liberty to defend myself then a "peaceful" servitude of relying on others to defend me.

MadHatter you have told me this story a billion times before, and as I remember you didn't have to fire a shot.

It's stupid. And that Cowboy Bush didn't help the situation. I know alot of you Americans feel strongly towards these metal killing machines, designed to end the life of some poor Iraqi, or "Iraqistani" as Bush would say, guns help nobody. Sandy Hook. Orlando. Columbine. All avoidable if you used common sense and dumped the stupid second amendment.

They help no one? Funny I just told you they helped me not once but twice. Oh and gun control stops terrorist attacks? Paris, Nice, and a few other attacks in high gun control areas in Europe says your WRONG.

So when you picked up your gun, you went outside ready to fire ?? There's always, always always an alternative to fighting. Use violence as a last resort. Some guy was being a dick to me because he saw me kissing another guy, zo I sat down and explained to him that some people are gay and bi and pan so get over it. Then he told me to stfu u little faggot, so I promptly broke his nose.

Went outside. Nope but great strawman.. No what happened was a man broke into my house and was stalking around with a knife. My brothers room did not have a door so they were not safe. So no there was no alternative but to prepare to use deadly force. The second time I had four people, one of whom had a pipe rush to attack me to earn their stripes with a gang. Sorry but again no choice because I am short and not very fast so running would have just gotten me hit from behind. And you broke someones nose over words but have the gall to call gun owners violent?

I admit it is a little hippocritical .... I believe that you are gay, so if some guy called you a faggot would you not punch him ?? The only other time i have hurt someone was when I was young ... My father had just died and someone called me "Dadless Dan" so i just went wild. But guns kill, and you can take back a punch, not a bullet.

I absolutely love the wide and varied opinions, it is fantastic! Everyone here is brilliant and I love you all for the opinions! Keep them coming, but maintain a level of respect due one another. Everyone has an opinion and is due their voice!

Friends,
Please cease this argument, it seems as if you have had this discussion before. Passions and emotions are running high in something we see as breaking the normal from recent status quo. Silas your ideals are noble and strong trait, however, the language and attitude in which you display them only leads to less understanding and support for them. Madhatter, I happen to agree with you as I'm a gun owner. I also, can see a deep passion from the experience of having to pull a fire arm for protection (I have not had to) shots fired or not any situation like that will leave it's imprint. However, please do not allow this passion and emotional connection to cloud the point you are making, to the use of same language and attitude that also leads to less understanding and support. I respectfully submit this on the hopes that this ceases to be an argument and become a discussion. I will also acknowledge that my earliest post brought this thread up,a post that contained little substance and was meant to make each side laugh in a way, I could have left it semi buried. I see this now as lesson to me, action and inaction, I should have left it alone as, though you may not see it this way, it ignited passions which has degraded a conversation to a conflict of two intelligent members, and though our opinions will differ among us, we should not allow them to gain a foot hold for uncivil discourse. Action and inaction ripple, in often unattended ways.
Respectfully and in peace,
Tim Kobos
