I-Ching Hexagramme 34 - Thirty-Four : Ta Chuang / Awesome Power
Thunder fills the Heavens with its awful roar, not out of pride, but with integrity; if it did less, it would not be Thunder :
Because of his Great Power, the Superior Person takes pains not to overstep his position, so that he will not seem intimidating or threatening to the Established Order.
Opportunity will arise along this course.
SITUATION ANALYSIS :
The Awesome Power available in this hexagram stems from what the Taoists call your Te, a term not perfectly translated into English.
Roughly, it is your Integrity -- not in the Western sense of honour -- but more in the psychological definition of a full integration of Who You Are.
This Awesome Power is achieved only by fully embracing both the good and the bad, the strong and the weak, the masculine and the feminine -- all polarities within you.
Such self-knowledge spawns a Mastery tempered with the humility necessary to rein in and harness this Awesome Power.

From a Star Wars perspective, Grey Jedi dabble in areas of the "Dark side", which is something I definitely do. Of course that "dark side" can be the Force, but it can also be the dark side in oneself.
I believe in using your "dark side" to achieve good, while not submitting to it and letting it get the better of you. An example would be seeing someone attacking your friend. The anger you feel on behalf of your friend can be used and Channelled to defend him/her, however once your friend has successfully been defended, you must stop and put a lid on that anger. That is how I would describe my shade of grey.

What is gray to you may be white to me and what was black yesterday may be gray today. I try to let the situation determine my appropriate response and let others decide if it is ethical later.

The "good guys" and the "bad guys" are matters of perspective ; History is (read historians are) near-sighted.

Ethical considerations need to be part of the determinations made in living out the situations .... the beauty of it is, usually the more ethical one's response, the more the others will condemn one for it.

That is a very important clarification to point out. I do usually consider the ethical implications of my actions before acting, but I still often end up with someone being disappointed with my choices anyway. I guess what I meant to say is that my actions are motivated by my own personal morals and ethics, but others may still decide that my actions were unethical anyway. That isn't a justification for acting without consideration, though.

My opinion of others? That's a lot of people. I'm not sure I have the time for all of them so it's probably best not to.
