I remember reading the BFG as a child; when I caught wind that Disney and Spielberg were getting together to make a movie, oh my goodness I was excited! 2 weeks before the movie came out "The BFG" was our son's bedtime story and when it came time to go see it in the theatre, my 3 year old son sat perfect still for the entire 2 hours mesmerized! As was I, it was in my opinion one of the most visually stunning movies I have seen in a long time. Then today while looking for a blu-Ray release date I find this

http://m.imdb.com/title/tt3691740/reviews?ref_=m_tt_urv#showAll

Average?
Terrible?
No plot?....what??!!!

Am I again in a minority of liking a movie or is it actually good.
Hoping for some answers from educated people. Thanks

Reading the reviews, it sounds like a case of unmet expectations to me. People who went in remembering the story from their childhood with awe and grandeur and finding it fall short from that memory. When that happens, people tend to be way harsher than is really needed, y'know? Especially with the added big names of Disney and Spielberg.

The movie has little to do with the book i have heard , one should realise that when going to the cinema, Roahld Dahl has a way of creeping in your head and making your own movie , that this surely will be a dissapointment , its great tho to watch with kids and let them read the book later , the book is more gruwsome anyway , the child eating giants do actually eat children. The animated version for tv from 1989 was way more close to the book , but having said that , i heard great stories about the movie , how its made and its message and there are always going to be conflicting views and reviews. I for one though can imagine that if you expect the real story one would be dissapointed by a watered down good feel story that appears in the Cinema. I therefor will not watch it unless my 5 year old cousin wants to watch it :)

I haven't seen this movie yet, but in general critics and I disagree on films. I loved Click and Pixels, and yet they got poor reviews.

So I simply don't pay attention to reviews anymore.
