"Altars all around us" was created by
http://www.beliefnet.com/Wellness/2000/07/Altars-All-Around-Us.aspx?p=2

In this article, it talks about how everyone, in a sense, have an altar. They have an area where they reflect on things and gather those objects that mean a lot to them.

It also discusses how groups sometimes get together and add an item to a temporary altar and share the importance of that item.

I think this would make a great project to do together in that each person takes a photo of an object that means a lot to them and tags on why. I would be happy to then take all those images and create a magnificent collage of them

What does everyone think? We could even convert this thread to uploading those pictures if you'd like. :D

This is a fantastic idea! I would be very pleased to contribute an object to the altar.

As a possible spin-off, I would be interested to see what would happen if we built physical ones, perhaps using the rgional groups. One for NY, one for Texas, one for Alabama, etc.

But let's just start with the collage first.

Part of my Jedi ism is the personal way it is to me, it's how the Force reveals itself to me, personally. My own idea s are shared with many.

This is our "my" altar at home. Bits from fruit we share. A cedar stick for burning, crystal ball to help clear, bits of us all together.

It is a cloth bag with shells inside, symbolizing how one day I wish to live by the water, but concealed for my eyes are on the present. The shells inside are ones that are from where I wish to live: Florida.

Also inside is a ring, one I have had for a long long time, and as a child wished I could someday get it to fit. Now, its too small, but always associates in my mind with the future. The ring is an image that I also associate with infinity and commitment, because its round and foes infinitely, and because a ring in western tradition is used to represent commitment forever with a loved one.
