I've been musing on patience in preparation of writing on it. I'd like to expand my perspective and ask others what they think. I'm not looking for discussion, just write what you think and let it go at that. No right or wrong, just muse.
Thanks in advance.

Patience with yourself means you hang in there. putting in the effort necessary for change. Patience means a lack or control of complaint, inward or outward. We've all stood in a line that didn't seem to be moving. Why do we become annoyed, angry, & grumbly? Does the negative serve a purpose? Make things move faster? You have to stop, take a breath. That's patience. If we seek to understand rather than feel we're being violated (MY rights! MY time!) in some way, we go far toward dealing with others in a patient manner.

To me, having patience has always been about understanding Time. Or perhaps it's better to think that Time doesn't exist, thus there is nothing to wait for.
Everything is the Force, and Time is a measurement of Distance, be it physical distance between point A and point B, or between Past and Future. If everything is the Force, then there is no difference between A and B, nor Past and Future. Time, therefore, is an illusion. To transcend time is to have unlimited patience.

The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.
- William Arthur Ward
I feel that we are somehow programmed (physically and mentally) to respond to urges. Physically we feel hunger, thirst, lust, tiredness... mentally we feel all sorts of anxieties. Patience to me is understanding that the "kick" our urge gives us to eat that piece of bacon is not the end of the world... we can survive for weeks without it.
A little patience is postponing pleasure for a larger reward down the road.
Mastering patience, however, is actually learning to enjoy the wait.

Having the capacity and will for something but choosing to defer it until the future while reserving that capacity and will for it until that future time. Contrasted with deferring something which allows access to that capacity for other application, but retains the will.
That is how I'd view it, but it sort of forces the definition of capacity to include ones sentiment and motivation instead of letting it slip next to will, because for me will is more the decision itself rather then the reasons. So its a particular way I choose to look at it.
