Just more opportunity for rampant theft and cyber crime to find a new breeding ground.

Sure a portion of uploaded torrents are for free-domain works, but the majority of what is uploaded is based on copyrighted works and illegal forms of pornographic material.

I like bit-torrent. Without it, so many people would get ripped off through those non-refundable non-negotiable license deals which have replaced the now defunct right to possess and share a piece of human culture.

I long for the days when making copies was a consumer right, and certainly am looking forward to decentralized information systems which cannot be censored by the government. In the UK there's waay too much censorship.

I wholeheartedly support torrenting efforts and the free distribution of information.
I think this is a very interesting endeavor, though nowhere near as interesting or important as Sci-Hub.

While I support free distribution in general, the positive morality behind the core goals of Sci-Hub are indisputable.

I have really mixed feelings on torrenting sites and the like. On the one hand I believe that many programs are outrageously over priced. On the other hand, I don't believe that stealing them is the answer. Justify it how you want, but if you have something for free, without permission from the people who made it, and you were supposed to pay for it, then it's stealing.

I really don't like it for things like movies and music. If specific artists are willing to give away their stuff for free that's up to them, but this is how these people make a living. They deserve to be paid for it.

Just my opinion and it has changed over time. In my younger days I was a downloading machine.
