Replace Paramilitary Vigilante With Compelled by Love
Snowy Aftermath wrote: They're not all monsters... we just get so used to the "us vs. them" paradigm we've all been programmed to accept as reality.
Love this. At the heart of the matter is the illusion of this dualism, this false dichotomy we construct. In the end, we are all the same, and waking up to the fact that even the "darker" aspects of humanity are reflections of our own psyche, of our own self, is the best way to begin reconciling the gap we created in our own minds.
The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

That being said, we look to our elders to guide us. We're now faced with an existential crisis where the elders are away or too busy to respond. A long time ago, I was able to come into the forums and get Br. John or Alexandre Orion or Alan or Jestor(still available) or countless Jedis who know a lot to come in and just pound out these discussions. Maybe that was in the golden years, I dunno. Whatever is going on, we have the responsibility to step up and do the work. I have no idea where to begin but begin we must. something like "TOTJO: A new beginning" hehe

Excellent question! I want to eliminate them forever. I think a maximum income would work. It's like if you made $1million last year then everything over that would be taxed 100%. Something like that. It solves the inequality problem but maybe you also need a universal basic income.Rickie wrote: Define "get rid of" please.

How about we deal away with money all together. Switch to a gift economy. People will make things because they enjoy making them and people can take freely. A person that makes chairs will have no use for 20 chairs. Same with a baker and 20 cakes. I am pretty far left wing myself, however, telling people how much money they can make would make you bad as the government because you are taking their freedom, even worse it would be by force.

What about people who cannot make things (exclusive), or if people who do make things need things to make things which they cannot get (limiting)? That system has no room for growth, and nature is very competitive so their are lots of variables which would challenge a gift economy IMO.

Who would pass the laws to make that happen? It would never happen for hundreds of years or longer but I don't think at all. People haven't changed for thousands of years. I don't think the'll will any time soon.

The point is that this is something so ingrained into our culture, that even story writing geniuses can't figure out a way around the concept. No matter what there will be someone that rises to power and leads, they will be "elite".
