Hi, I'm stuck in the middle of an interesting situation. The people around me poke fun at Jediism and think it's a joke. The thing is, these people are some of my closest friends. I don't know how to reveal that I joined TOTJO without being the subject of ridicule. Can anyone give me advice? Thanks :P
PS: I don't make many friends so it would be hard for me to find new friends.

Can you laugh at yourself?

i can see the humor in it, and can agree it can seem silly...

On the same token, many hobbies and lifestyles can seem silly... I find watching sports, and worrying, and arguing who is the better team silly...

We've all got our hobbies...

But, just cause we can laugh, doesn't mean it's not serious.... :)

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

For me the solution came through another question.

"Why do I want to reveal my value system to other people?"

My close friends and family do not take my Path seriously. I also have been told that totjo looks like schizophrenia.

That still is a source of big doubts for me. However, I have found that my commitment to our way is stronger then my fear of being socially inadequate.

And the optimistic point is that by your own example of what it means to be a Jedi, not words, you achieve acceptance of the society. The more I exemplify the Path, the more people around start to take it seriously.

Well friend the age old question... should I tell people I'm Jedi. The older I get the less friends I find. Yet... the more I learn the more like minded people I find. We some how always think "I need friends" it may be true. Some may. Sounds to me like they are making fun and picking at what they know. Do they know the inner workings of you? I find my self there. Yet I seem to find the same answer... for me doing and living a better example of "carlos", that's my name, seems to be more important than the names.
Encouragement
Be you. No one can make you feel inferior with out your consent. Don't give it to em. Hold your head up high and live it. Be you! Be proud. Be the example of Jedi to your people. I will never reach em, you do! Jedi are light. You are light. Be that light! Shine friend. Don't see it as a bad thing see it as a chance... a chance to be you to be Jedi. I know you have it in you. We all do. You are with like minded people. Pm if you ever need to friend, you are not alone.
