People calling us crazy...

I see a lot of posts on social media calling us (Jedi) crazy for believing what we do. Or saying we must be crazy because it is only a bunch of movies. To them Iask why? Why are we crazy for believing in Peace, Justice, Love, Learning and Benevolence? If that makes me crazy, then ok, I'll take it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that does not mean it is ok to belittle or bully someone because their beliefs are different than yours. That type of hate and intolerance is what is wrong in the world. We should try to understand one another. We should try to help the human race move forward, not creep backwards. We, as a species, will one day move beyond this. But it will take those of us with a high moral code to stand strong and make it happen. I am proud to be a Jedi and I do not shy away from it. May the Force be with you.
Patience

Well said
People tend to just hear the word jedi or jediism and then start giving us negative feedback.
They don't bother to learn what we are all about or what we stand for and belive in, wich is just pure ignorant
However i don't really care if they call me crazy, i belive in what i want and they can say what they wish about it
But then

I agree, if someone isn't asking of others of the belief, why intend prejudice?

the commitment to the details will convince people. it's like religions unable to translate theory into practice, breaches of practice, or loopholes in theory, have all suffered ridicule for such reasons. especially the fund raising and donations are another grievance.

society looks for proof being an innate need for virtue

I do not get caught up in arguments with them because that wuld just fuel the fire. Most times after these people have said their peace, they go away. I feel for them because they have nothing they believe in that brings them understanding and compassion for their fellow man.
Yes, we are all a little mad on some level! :)

This is often the case in many situations
Take islamophobia for example, people see islam as a threat and they qoute some negative qoutes from the muslim holy book and critize it from that, with other words they pick the chocolate from cookie and judge it by that.
That's the same with jediism, Jedi is a word made by George Lucas and it is used in the star wars movies. So automatically people belive that our teachings are works of fiction

i agree - i would say that "life is suffering" and that its best to accept the reality of unfairness and hostility as the base line reality - this way we wont be debillitated by it when we encounter it personally.

its such a young movement - each of us, in our own small way, can demonstrate our sanity (or lack thereof lol) and in time we will be "known by our fruits"

i dont believe this is an issue of arguing our case so much as living our beliefs

its good to have articulate and considered answers to questions about ourselves, but the most effective answer in the long run is going to be our reputations: collectively and as individuals

and something like bickering on facebook probably doesnt improve anyones rep lol

which reminds me - social media is mostly stupid and crazy itself

imo it should be handled carefully - like, the way contagious waste is handled carefully lol

its important, eventually anyway, to establish social media presence

but keep in mind that it is the loudest and most obnoxious that are easiest to spot

and its not necessary to "beat them at their own game"

People are complicated.

some do, some don't. branding them as them or us may even develop self-justification. evidence of application is what earns respect and trust as these are not entitlements. moving away from the flying spaghetti monster will better the position

the abilities that we are unable to do, yes of course people doubt that. but the principles are applicable, evidence of application can convince

I agree, but what's the difference between social media and any discussion? in the end it's discussion.

people good at discussion focus on reasoning of their ideas. people failing to reason focus on the person because they threaten their reasoning.

respect and trust are earned. logic and reason needs to be the forefront.

I live and represent Jediism well. I will continue to do so. I will not shy away from it and try to make sure that how I act and what I do is respectful and that I honor the Jedi way. I answer any questions brought before me about the Jedi path. I walk as a Jedi, I talk as a Jedi, and I try to represent the community as well as I am able.
