I've always felt good growing things. I can even remember planting beans if a paper cup in grammar school and "helping?" my mom grow her tomatoes.

I've always had some sort of vegi garden and now I have modest/small fruit & veggie garden in the suburbs. I even call the back yard my farm.

Do you want to: get in touch with the living force, feel good, get some exercise outside, make things grow and eat better?

Plant a ten foot row of bush green beans. Plant a second row if you want more than you can eat.

Plant a tomatoe plant with a sturdy support to tie it to like a broom stick. Plant two if you like tomatoes.

Plant zucinni squash, it will make you feel like a very successfull gardner! :)

These are real easy vegies to grow.

My Cardinal Rule is....plant what you like to......

EAT!

and enjoy!

Thanks Rickie!! I really have to second this. Nothing like the excitement and fulfillment in growing plants from seeds and seeing them thrive under your care....

Unless you're like me.... I've tried growing plants from seeds twice... I got sprouts then managed to accidently kill them. So while I research more I started out with seedlings and plants where I can find them :D

I'm in a rental and want to take my plants with me when I move so I've got a potted garden but geared towards herbs and other useful plants. I call it my Garden of Usefulness!

Herbs: Thyme, Greek Oregano, Italian Oregano, Basil, Cilantro, Jalapeno (I killed my Habanero seedlings... :pinch: ) and for the usefulness: White Sage, French lavender, and Aloe (which I did actually manage to grow from a seed and it survived the move half way across the country! :D ).

I get such thrill from cooking from herbs I grow in my own garden! I'm looking forward to eventually living in a place where I can have an actual garden. :D I'll have to remember your easy growing veggie ideas when I eventually get my own place :D And I'll be growing roses too!

Even when I lived in an appartment I found a place for a small garden. I was able to use someones empty space next to their house as long as I cleaned up in the fall.

Just ask some one that looks like they have room for afew plants.

I got sprouts

I've done sprouts next to the kitchen sink in the winter. They might go well with you herbs?
You could write a book on apartment farming?

I have a house with a yard, it's just mostly concrete and the owners are very particular about the plants that are there so everything needs to be in pots and mobile so I can take them when I move. I was looking at those large planters but I think I'm going to wait for retirement before I start a full-blown garden. No telling if we'll have a yard in the next place we go :D

I haven't done enough research on keeping plants to keep them alive haha much less enough to write a book on apartment farming ;)

Already got:

Madder and a couple flower pots planted and waiting for growth.

waiting for this up coming storm to pass us then I'll be turning soil and planting already grown plants from Lowes. Mainly because I can never get seeds to work between kids, cats, chipmunks, squirrels, and moles. Already I am going to have to figure out how to keep the deer and kids out of the already grown crops! >_<

Pictures in my journal :)

I just finished a hydroponics garden and it is growing amazingly well in my greenhouse. I love to watch them grow from seeds to food producers!

I have tried my hand a Bonsai as well, which is also an amazing art and good lesson on patience.

Added to my extra pots - Isatis Root: A Natural Dyeing Plant used in Viking ages for dyeing clothes

and Jacaranda Mimosifolia

Which is supposed to eventually grow into a really big and beautiful tree. I'll just be happy if I can reach Bonsai version/stage XD we shall see.

Missing a shovel so the rest of my gardening will have to wait another day or two XD
