If Jedi had a Symbolic Table

Ros' If Jedi had a Symbolic Meal thread got me thinking. The US Air Force has a very symbolic ceremony at the start of any Dining In, Dining Out, or Ball to honor and remember those who could not be with us because they are prisoners of war or missing in action.

What symbolism would you pick for an empty Jedi table? Something to honor those who have gone before or those who could not be there due to distances and the like?

one half full glass of water and one candle

water having tons and tons of powerful symbolism, just assume that i mean all of it

the half full being a recognition to the balance of duality but also to the optimism of knowing that we are able to choose how we see our lives
and of course as a symbol of dedication to the lifelong pursuit of wisdom (being willing to always have room in the glass)

it should be glass because though i belive undoubtedly that we are magical beyond our wildest dreams, i also see that in the face of eternity we are ultimately small and fragile

and as a statement of the simple honesty, and the clarity of mind body and spirit that jedi aspire to

the candle represents the idea that we each shine our own light and that even if we are surrounded by the brilliance of the stars we know that our own light is sufficient and there is no sense of regret at the humbleness of our station, but rather a great sense of awe and gratitude that we have been so blessed as to be light in the first place.

People are complicated.

If were similar to a knights of the round table scenario, then I'd probably lay a ceremonial sword down on the table in front of the seat.

leave one seat empty with a complete place setting...this is where those that are no longer with us would sit.

I would fill the table up with food and drink and enjoy a happy dinner with family and/or friends. I do not think those that have joined the force would care or desire you to cling onto the past no matter how respectful or sentimental it is. A Jedi joins the force when he or she dies. He or she never left. Just dosn't sit at the table anymore.
