Is it possible to change so that you don't recognise yourself?

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

My thoughts are that a time gap may make it appear that we have changed so much not to recognise ourselves, but change is in fact continual so we're always 'me'. Although others may not recognise us.

I think that in my life I collected a lot of garbage that was not really mine
and I got fixated on things that werent really important to me
but were very absorbing
and didnt make me feel uncomfortable the way that facing the more difficult
but meaningful
challenges of my life did
when I really looked at them
which was rare
I think this is what it means to GROW UP

I've been so many different people... before I realized it was okay that I hated my male body and started learning to live my whole truth in spite of my body, I can't tell you if I ever really recognized myself. Maybe occasionally, but not that way that I now look down at my own body, knowing that it's just a temporary state that I can change through hormones, and I see who I really am.

There is a neurological disorder where you can't recognize pictures of yourself ,but you can recognize yourself in a mirror. It's a type of
prosopagnosia

the face may change but who makes the face WHO MAKES THE FACE??!!?!
=========== ==========
I have a theory that human beings were "designed" to be noble
I belive its our natural state to know our own worth and to trust in our own vision
I feel like a lot of people SAY they know their worth
and its.not my place to say what someone else feels
but there are tests I can use to determine my own level self acceptence and one big one is how many a$$hole$ do I see in the world?
the higher the number
the more work I have to do
and the "work" consists of beliveing in the sufficiency of my own light
mostly I only see other people as being less worhty than me
or as thinking that theyre better than everyone else
or as threatening to me
when Im out of touch with the truth of my worth
Im not really talking about "self esteem" as I understand it the conventional sense
all kinds of crap gets mixed up with "self esteem" images so I also.think its important that I express.that my light is not sufficient as a result of my intelligence or my accomplishments or my wisdom or my hot sexy body or any of the many many other great things about me <BIGHAPPYSMILE> and it sufficiency cannot be diminished by my stupidity or my failure or my weakness or cowardice or ugliness
its like.tthis
a candle with self esteem issues is still a candle
but I used to be intimidated by the stars
so I hid myself under a bush
then the bush started burning
and I was crucified
and it turns out its not that bad once youve made it through
now I sing my freedom song
and I think its the same for everybody except we all spend a different amount of time under the bush or on the cross
plus im hard headed so im sure I made it worse than it had to be
anyway the point to all this is that it doesnt matter what you think of yourself
you are a candle
your light is sufficient
shine

That's not quite what I was talking about. Do you think the changes you make everyday can mean you can be at a point where you don't even recognise yourself?
It won't let me have a blank signature ...

In the case of the kid in the Reddit article, there were some definite positive changes - or at least all of the ones mentioned were the positive ones ... We don't get to hear about the negative aspects of those. This case is also that of a young adult looking back at himself as an adolescent ; adolescence is by Nature the time of transition from childhood to adulthood where, as far as one's self-image goes, it is in transformation. Transformation is motivated by crisis. Therefore - and to my mind (I'm no psychologist - nor do I believe that most of our behaviours are "disorders", regardless of how painful Life is), it is not surprising that one may not "recognise" oneself from adolescence to young adulthood. That recognition may return as Life experience adds up ...
The question this raises for me is : despite the changes that we have undergone - whether they are the ones we wanted or not -, how many of us would recognise ourselves if, by some accident of Nature, we would meet ourselves in the street today ?
I'm not so sure that this reposes so much on memory of how we were, but in "recognising" who we are now.
Maybe ...
