Grounding Meditation

Note: I have learned that here at TOTJO I am supposed to disclaimer just about anything I do >_> As it is not exactly allowed for one of my rank to teach I want it known that I am not attempting to teach or instruct anyone. Simply describing how I do this form of meditation. There are many youtube links you can look up...I personally find most all of them to be wishy washy bull sh** Nonsense....but :) That's just me. Everyone has their own way and it is our uniqueness that makes the Force so strong.

Step One: Turn everything off. Your cell phone, your computer, your alarm, your music, anything electronic in your surrounding area....turn it off now.

Step Two: Tidy up your meditation area....The force flows like a river, if you have messy and cluttered room... you can imagine this like the rapids of a river bed. The more rocks you put into the river, the more choppy and chaotic the flow of the river will be. The same is true with the Force...if your surroundings are choppy and chaotic, you will be sponging in that kind of energy.

Step Three: Choose your position. For grounding Meditation I prefer to stand, barefooted, outside in the grass...but you can pretty much do this anywhere and you can sit if you want. If you do sit down, make sure your posture is good. Straight back, shoulders pulled back, chin raised to allow proper air flow. DO NOT CROSS YOUR HANDS OR LEGS.

Step Four: Be sure to plant your feet flat to the ground. The ground is representative to the present, things that are solid and well defined. It is the plane that cements us to focus and roots us into place. Just like the tall sycamore trees are rooted to earth. So shall you be.

Step Five: Close your eyes, keep them open....its really up to you. :) I prefer to have as little rules as possible because at the end of the day you, your mind, body and spirit....knows best.

Step Six: Practice Lower Breathing. Lower Breathing is when you breath in from your abdomen and push out. Your chest and shoulders should not be moving...just your tummy/Center

Step Seven: Breath as naturally as you can with Lower Breathing (With practice this does become natural) and start to visualize yourself and your surroundings. Be aware of it. Be aware of yourself. Be aware of your disconnection and all the chaotic things that has lead you to this meditation. Breath it all in. Accept it. Let it be part of you.

Step Eight: When you are ready draw all of your awareness, all of your thoughts, all of your energy to the space just above your head. Bring your focus there and hold it all into a tight ball. And allow yourself to breath.

Step Nine: When you are ready. Bring that ball through the top of your head and to your minds eye. Hold it here and once again imagine yourself collecting all your distractions and pushing it into this ball. All of your thoughts, all of our unwanted memories, all of your to do lists....put it into your ball of energy. Allow yourself to breath naturally.

Step Ten: When you are ready. Push that ball down to your heart. Keeping your breathing steady and natural you will once again repeat the earlier process...This time shove all your emotions, fears, excitements, sorrows, happiness...put it all into this growing ball and let it be pushed further down.

Step Eleven: Now let this ball of Awareness, Thoughts and Emotions sit in the cradle of your hips. The Chinese call this your Dian Tian. Here you will do nothing. Just let it sit for moment, let your thoughts become focused only the present moment and the purpose of this meditation. To ground yourself and let your spirit set within you peacefully. When you feel ready...Move on to the next step

Step Twelve: Take the ball of Awarness, Thoughts, Emotions and now your centered goal drive them down your legs. Push them forcefully out of your body, out of your mind, out of your spirit and drive them into the earth beneath your feet. Wash yourself of everything that has brought you off balance and root it all into the ground.

Step Thirteen: Imagine that your own feet are extending, rooting themselves like a tree to the ground. Imagine that your sipirts own feet is rooting with you. Do this for however long you feel is needed.

Step Fourteen: Take in a deep breath. Deeper than your natural intake of air and open your eyes (If they were not already opened)

Step Fifteen: Let that air out forcefully and stomp your feet. Go on! It feels good!! Stomp them! Stomp Stomp Stomp!! Shake your hands, your arms, Shake it all out and toss it to the ground.

Step Sixteen: Your done! Step away from your rooted spot and go start your day. Take a Shower!! I love showers after this...Eat or Drink something with protein. Protein is a very "Grounding" and stabilizing food source, a simple protein drink will do.

And remember to smile!

By meditating you try to enter a state of very deep concentration. When you can stay relaxed and focused well anything can get you out of this state, the mobile phone, noise whatsoever or even a vision. The ideal is to have a place where there is no noise. To try meditating in a temple as I did, there is deafening silence. Over time you get used to not lose concentration easily, is like climbing a mountain, in the beginning you will slowly and anything can take stability and when you come down you is difficult climb again. Over time you learn not to make mistakes and the climb is confident. Practice makes perfect secrecy is not discouraged.
A good tip when no remedy is to use an ear protection of those who use in factories, even muffles the sound. But I recommend in the latter case, because to get used to the noises is important. Another good tip is to meditate every day.
Another thing not force anything, go at your own pace, but stipulating goals. Do not let your pleasure becomes only obligation.
