Hello Temple!

A couple of weeks ago, we had a discussion on apologies and I made a little bit of a mess. At the time, it was what I intended to do. You should know that the conflict incited was for a purpose. The purpose was fulfilled, but it was due to my stubbornness.

I acted out of pure self-interest, not considering my duties as a Minister or a potential Knight. I have been undergoing supplementary training from the Council, and I've come to the realization of how important it is to use "ranks" or "bars of progress" as a measure of character, regardless of any ideologies. There are proper ways to challenge the system, and these are born out of awareness and curiosity, not condemnation and shaming.

So, for going about what I was trying to do in a not-so-fabulous way, I apologize. Let's all be awesome and continue to experience openness in our hearts and minds.

-Con

Nicely expressed, Connor. Most of us are constantly striving to maintain this type of awareness and to recognize where the line is (if there is one) between our individual selves and those aspects of ourselves that are responsible in some way to a larger community, so don't be too hard on yourself.

In just looking at the syntax and structure, I see little or no contrition....

If that is supposed to be an apology, well, I'm sorry, I don't see it (nor was I a wronged party seeking an apology)...

I don't mean to make light of the situation, but it seems a little Pythonesque....

This was a rude and small-minded thing to say, here's why:

An apology, in my view, should consist of three things: acknowledgement of wrong-doing, a commitment to do better, and an act of good faith towards achieving that.

Here Connor recognizes he effed up and explains how he came to that realization.

Here Connor makes a commitment to do better.

And while you may not be aware of it, Connor has done some very wonderful work on altruism and empathy. He did this without much, if any, dragging of the feet. He was given some material to reflect on and he did it (probably better than I could).

I think you were too quick to pronounce judgment there, Arkayik.

I think this is in very poor taste and an apology now falls to you.

Yes, my perception differs from yours. I responded to what was written. Others see it differently, I'm fine with that.

It was not intended to be rude. There is, unfortunately, a limited range of options to say what I had to say.

While you admire the Emperor's new clothes, I shall continue to say what I see...

Too quick to pronounce? How long would it have been appropriate to wait? Would the content of the OP have changed at some point?

Rickie, I have no doubt, at some point, you'll see me apologize for something I've done and at that point you will see "a different apology"...
