During the initiate program there was some talk on the Joseph Campbell videos about how the Indians considered everything sacred, All Life. They referred to all living things as thou and not it.This has been bouncing around in my brain for a couple days now and wanted some input from everyone here.
I think the Indians had it right considering all living things sacred but I think we have lost that in mankind lately. We (as mankind) don't seem to hold anything sacred and I think this could be part of the decline. Is it time we started showing others that there are sacred things out there?
What do you consider sacred?

You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of your grandfathers.
So that they will respect the land, tell your children that the earth is rich with the lives of our kin.
Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the earth is our mother.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth.
If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves.

Eagle Prayer

Oh Eagle, come with wings outspread in sunny skies.
Oh Eagle, come and bring us peace, thy gentle peace.
Oh Eagle, come and give new life to us who pray.
Remember the circle of the sky, the stars, and the brown eagle,
the great life of the Sun, the young within the nest.
Remember the sacredness of things.
- Pawnee Prayer

sacred hu?
Much like the Native Americans i believe the same. But to show reverence to these things... is where i take a step forward. It is one thing to believe in something and a much more different approach to practice what is is you believe. As a Jedi we believe in the FORCE and it dwelling in everything...including people lol . I find that life it self is sacred. The fact that i am a part of it and we share (no matter how tiny) a circle, we all effect each other in some way shape or form. So...i thank things for being a part of my day. I thank people and trees and everything else that i get a chance to. It helps for my meditation at times to be in a spirit of thank fullness. I fall into a deeper shade when i do. Hope this helps you . ps...thanks for sharing! lol May the FORCE be with you on your journey friend!

Children and child-like only consider themselves...

We must teach that everything is connected...

So to take care, be considerate, and slow to impatience...

On walk-about...

Can we teach not only that everything is connected, but even more, that their real body extends far beyond their skin? If they were able to realize (not intellectually, but spiritually) that their body is their whole world, would they make the parallel between caring about their ego self and their universal self?

That's sorta what I mean...

It doesn't matter what we talk about, its connected to everything else...

And we are teaching that, you know...

That's why we talk about "ecological systems, and ideas that show its not "this", but rather all of "these"...

That make sense? Lol.....

Yeah life is sacred. So is love...

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

Not just life - the land, lakes, sea and sky.

In my opinion all is one. All is sacred.

Even the "bad" stuff ;)

All this stuff is sacred :

... and the emergent properties of the whole mess of it.

For that mess isn't a mess ; it is very "li" endowed, very graceful, vast and terrible ...

My daughter asked me what sacred means. I said it means what is unique and special to you. She asked what I thought was sacred for me. I said everything is sacred. Don't take it so seriously.
