No, not to any amount significant enough to make that claim plausible. Sure, I know kids who wouldn't want a particular candy, toy or cell phone if it wasn't advertised, but no amount of social pressure can actually change your sexual preferences to something you didn't have within you, much less anything that is outside of human nature altogether. And even if it could, that pressure would have to arise from somewhere and it wouldn't, if there wasn't a strong enough majority of people who like something for reasons other than the fact that the supply is there. The supply does influence the demand, but nowhere near this strongly.

I do find it quite interesting that even back in 1943 we have someone talking about how women are portrayed as unrealistic in advertisements and other such things. Long before the computer, let alone photoshop software we still had this problem. Regardless of the rest of the passage, its author, or anything else about it I believe that that is still an interesting thing.

What say I?
I'd say that the CS Lewis you have quoted is in a very similar style to the "The protocols of the learned elders of zoin" by Victor E Marsden. That book was highly controversial, caused a massive stir about its authenticity and even carried the death penalty in some countries. Of course authenticity is irrelevant to this discuss only the fact that it happened in 1919 right in the middle of CS Lewis' writing career and follows the same style. That is a sinister agent lecturing minions on the use of social grooming and human vices. You will find it is an obvious influence on writings for authors like CS Lewis and Tolkien.
Needless to say (fictional or not) I find both of the these writing very insightful into the human mind and draw important lessons from them in the same way as i do from Chancellor Palatine's political manipulation.
