We currently think everything that is perceived (you see, hear etc) is produced by the activity of chemicals and impulses in your brain - that is a base assumption which underlies the discussion.

So look around you at the room you are in, you perceive a material world but the experience of observing the world is what is called the subjective world - because its created in your brain no-one can know exactly what you are experiencing as the 'subject' of the experience... its subjective.

If you close your eyes, does the subjective world/room still exist?

Once we shut our eyes the subjective room almost completely disappears, because we rely so much on vision.... to be replaced with the ground underfoot and sounds within the room only. The subjective experience is standing in the dark emptiness. Without the usual more full picture of the room, your minds representation of the room is drastically reduced to almost nothing.

You can try walking around, and you hopefully will find your other senses like touch giving you limited information about this room which once existed in your subjective worldview.

We have faith that the material world still exists because it is logical. Through repeated trial and error by billions of people over and over.... but everything we perceive is a representation of what is there - and only a partial one at that. The shared and accepted perception of the material world is called the objective world, because it seems to exist beyond the individual subject and their subjective worldview. So it is considered to be an 'object' separate from our minds.

Close your eyes, does that objective world/room still exist?

Most everyone will say yes the objective world still exists - imagine if we opened our eyes and it didn't or had changed!

At least that is how I understand it!!!
