So then you are saying that it would be acceptable if TOTJO is viewed as a "role-playing society"? Yet when the FAQ, doctrine etc of TOTJO specifically states, that we are not? It sounds as if your views are conflicted.

As to my name, a mean means nothing. We place too much importance on a name. You are basically stating that I am a role player then? What of People like Aqua? Are you to say he is pretending to be water? Did you also forget Lesson 1 of the IP, specifically Part 6 - Masks of Eternity? Where Mr. Campbell warns of the danger of getting to caught up in a name, and letting that cloud the true aspect of the entity itself? In this case, the logical argument that I am stating.

Firstly, I didn't say any of that. Second, strong reaction for someone who isn't concerned about their label. Third, "Star Wars Roleplayers" is a label too.

And it should be enough that we take ourselves seriously.

To be clear, I like the idea of charity work. I have done many "walks" and other types of events. Now the caviot...

If this is an event that you wish TOTJO to be a part of (Sponsor), you must have Councils approval to do so. There are legal issues and stuff that only the Council can answer. For TOTJO to put their name to this type of fund raiser would be nice, lets just do it right.

I've done Susan Kohlman and Avon walks, given to St Jude, and of course, every year I do "Fill the Boot" with the fire service for MDA. Charity work is a Jedi thing. How about support for Dr without Borders or that kind of organization?

The point is to help people and have fun doing it(to me). I don't need to plug the Temple to do that. That will happen when somebody asks me in earnest about my beliefs.

I'm not AGAINST the idea, mind you. There is just no need to involve the Temple on paper.

Perhaps this is a questions for a new thread, but as a non-profit religious institution capable of accepting donations ourselves, shouldn't we learn how to raise money ourselves first?

I would like to think that we are all aware of the "Donate" button in the top right corner of this site, but how many of us have actually used it? (Before I get to righteous with this, I have not donated to this Temple and I should)

We can do good in this world for any number of charities, but we can also do good by building a Temple more capable of helping others. At the current time we do not even cover the expense of hosting this website, our online home.

Just a thought.

I agree I was not aware that we were not even covering costs of our own home..getting money together to support our own walls seems to be important if we want to add a new wing,,,

Forgive me for saying this but if one chooses the name they want and have a banner with their name and quote themself as a signature Im pretty sure he takes his name either super seriously or hes roleplaying..But I have seen wisdom in your words Revan so please do not feel like this is a personal attack just a statement of question...

I use my real name but do not lose respect for those that dont...I judge on charecter and actions

Clearly I take my name seriously or I wouldnt bother trying to defend my actions or point of views...
but as I said it was not ment as insult as to my belief you are not roleplaying so I imagined you took your name seriously and it ment something to you..
was as it has been said to me pointing out things that seem questionable..
That being said I like your name your avatar and signature..not a fan of the banner but hey to each his own
