Im looking to launch a campaign called "Light the Night"
Lead and put together by other fellow Jedi, people across the nation will walk around a local park at night with lightsabers for charity.. Im looking for a good weekend in November..Does this interest anyone here at all? Our foreign comrads would be amazing to join as a worldwide effort..That would be breath taking lol

Also, there are a lot of technical situations that would need to be addressed here. First off, location. Local to who, you? How exactly would this raise money? Are people expected to just shell out money to see Jedi in Robes walking through a park with a lightsaber?
I honestly think something of this nature would be more a hindrance to the Jedi image then good. Perhaps we could find another way to raise money for a charity?

St judes children hospital or muscle dystraphy association..
Its local to you..Im sure weve all seen the walk for charity events..How hard could it be to put one together?..Probably pretty hard but Im just throwing a idea out there to see how others feel..Its organized by the Jedi and we would be out there in our robes and lightsabers and others can do whatever they want...

Yes. Its not a bad idea if you raise awareness in your community for it. For goodness sake, we have zombie walks for charity all over the country. 5k this and that is really popular in my home town, too. We have huge community wide runs and walks dedicated to this and that and they are always themed. I think this would be fun.

I could print hand bills at cost and do performances in the park(martial arts) to raise awareness. Plus a facebook group. Being a Jedi I have a diverse group of friends and anything I post usually goes to all corners of the social strata here(champaign urbana)

If your implying "no" you've obviously never met my wife! :silly:
Also, I think some of the disparity here might be because of a personal belief of mine. I want my religion to be fun and celebratory of life. This sounds like a fun way to do that. People have a lot of fun waving giant glow rods around and if its for a good cause, great. I don't see why it has to be some somber event aimed at showing people how "serious" we are. Maybe we would attract more people with activities they might actually enjoy?
People remember how you made them feel more than anything else.
