1).Do you already do some.
2).Would you like the temple to be involved.
3).Would you only do it as long as other Jedi could help you.
4).Or would you do it because the Temple is asking for help on a volunteer service project.
The reason I'm asking is because I would like to see a volunteer community develop here at the Temple. It would be nice for those that want to volunteer to relate there work they are doing to the Temple. This would be a big step for us at TotJO, so I want to see who all is interested

Giving food away is good for very short term. I would like to do things which improve people for long term.

Yes

The Temple couldn't be involved in my volunteer work
3).Would you only do it as long as other Jedi could help you.
If I waited for other Jedi to pop up locally I wouldn't be doing it now

I would love to offer what I can to the Temple. But as scattered as we are, I'm not sure how we could outside of raising funds for something.

Good thinking Drexid...".Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
Could you elaborate on this more with ideas?

1) What kind of volunteering do you do if you don't mind me asking.
2). You are right Kamizu, distance between members hurts us in that manner... So I have been devolving a plan that may help in those terms

I don't understand how the Temple could be involved? And in a way if they were and that's why I'm doing it then it's for the wrong reasons. The same as if I'm only doing it only with other Jedi's help..
If they asked me to volunteer then I'd be doing it for them, not because I wanted to help and felt motivated myself to go out and do it.
Not sure I understand you totally.

On the plus side I enjoy what I do and it teaches me valuable lessons, it lead to a job offer and I'm not sitting at home all day on the computer, so I would recommend it to people

Its more then about doing it because you should, its also being part of a community local, nationally, globally and here at the temple. Believe it or not there are meany places in the US where volunteers are turned away because of an abundance in volunteers or there is an application process, and some even do background checks which they make you pay for.
IF the temple cannot help its member find volunteer work that it at least needs a forum to discuses it. and how people can get involved...

I don't mind at all

But the Temple can't really be involved in that work because it would require it to have a certified dog and handler

But I've done odds-and-ends volunteer work too. Meals on Wheels, Harvest Share, building for the small local zoo, other work for the local school...ok that's the only ones I can think of off the top of my head LOL. We get e-mails all the time about volunteer opportunities for events.
If you've got a plan that's awesome!! I'm sorry I didn't mean to mean that there's no way we as a Temple could do much, it's just that *I* couldn't think of a way
