I don't mind at all :D My dog and I are a certified Therapy Dog team. We go visit places like hospitals, retirement homes, schools, libraries, Alzheimer's homes, and the like. Primary goal is to make people happy :D we do the "Tail Waggin' Tutors" gig too where kids sit and read to him too. Whenever the test comes around I want to get us certified as Disaster Relief too.

That's all to cool... Therapy Dogs are great....you should post a pictures of him/her?

I have done a lot of volunteer work in the past, but right now I am not currently in any ongoing volunteer activity. It's something I need to be doing but I just moved to a new area and haven't sought out what needs exist around here yet.

I wouldn't restrict doing volunteer work to something that has other Jedi, or even anyone else involved, nor would I only do it if asked by totjo, but if asked, I would probably do it as I rarely say no when asked for help.

There is an application process and background checks in the UK too. I went through that for my volunteering job..
And no offence but over here if you want to volunteer look it up on the internet and register with organizations.. pretty simple if someone really wants to do it.
Discussing it is fine but if someone wants to do something they will do it. They wouldn't need help from the Temple if they were committed enough, they would find something to do..
Encouragement fine but people have to be motivated themselves first or it means nothing and they will fail.

Everything is belief

We both enjoy the work :D

This is Alexander (normally we just call him Alex) He's a Basset/Lab mix. Here's pictures. I don't have any of us interacting with folk because TDI requires a release form if we're to take pictures so I just never have done it :)

Warning: Spoiler!

Thats adorable.... I think you made a good example of why having a volunteer subject forum would be good to have.... To share our experiences with volunteer work. Something as that would peak the interests of other who are looking for some thing to volunteer with...

:D Thank you!! He's a doll. We put a LOT of work into him but he just has that "I love EVERYTHING" temperament that makes him easy to work with :) And if you have food he'll love you even more! haha.

Subject forum wouldn't be a bad idea, nor would maybe a group on the Forcebook side. Although I know many people who do volunteer work and don't really talk much about it because they don't want to boast. I'm not sure how active either would be, but it may be a good place for folks to ask questions (not that they can't ask in the general though either) *shrug* somethin' to put in front of the Council.

For those in the US, you can go to http://www.volunteermatch.org and find local volunteer work. I'm currently using it with great success.
