I have a sensitive issue, but its confusing and not really embarrassing so I thought I would ask. Does anyone have any theories about why a person might start crying and not know why? ITs been happening to me lately, and though I feel a sense of loss and sadness, it isn't aimed or inspired by anything I can think of. It seems so random... Do I just need to cry? I don't get it and the not knowing is starting to bug me. It started happening at work so now I can't just keep going because its affecting other people now...

I was once in your place, ruggad. On pretty much a daily basis I would lie in my bed and ball, for no reason. At the time, I suffered from extreme depression and anxiety. It wasn't pretty. My advice would be to go to a doctor ASAP.

I find I do this when something is wrong and instead of dealing with it I'm trying to carry on as normal. The feelings come out in a different way such as crying over things that normally I'd just shrug of. The doctor may help if it is depression, just general feeling down with no underlying cause. But sometimes talking helps to get to the root of the problem more than pills (in my opinion) having been given pills over and over. I tend to find pills help by taking away the feelings but if the problem remains in the long run your just gonna run into problems again.
Sometimes it helps just to let the feelings of sadness come, experience them, it's a stressful world. Just don't let them take over.

Everything is belief

When my stress and anxiety reach a level, my breaking point is to cry. Funny story, my last supervisor was a male only a few years older than I. When I broke down in front of him he was absoulutly flabbergasted. His face drained of color and he repeatedly asked if I was ok, if something he said was unreasonable haha. I had to laugh afterwards but I had simply reached the final point where that energy had NO WHERE ELSE to go and the little thing he pulled me asside for was the final straw that broke the camel's back. Some people get angry, I cry. I explained that to him but I don't think he understood lol.

My other reson to randomly cry won't help you though. Hormones XD

If you need an ear to rant at or bounce ideas off of, please feel free to message me. I have very few answers but I listen well :D

I don't have much else to offer that the others haven't said, just that we can get so good sometimes at managing our feelings that we don't even realise we're doing it.
It's easy to descend into something like depression and miss the roadsign on the way (unfortunately I know that from experience, and I'm not saying you have depression).
There's no harm in speaking to someone; sometimes others can sense what's wrong when we can't see it.

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

I'd wonder if it's an erroneous association of emotion ie not crying at sad stuff anymore just randomly instead, or an overall increase in sensitivity ie still crying at sad stuff just more easily but also randomly. It could be what Tibetan Buddhists call a sign of accomplishment/realizing such as 'increased compassion' if you've been training in meditation lately.

If you're pretty sure it's not your own emotions affecting it, it could be you're picking up on someone else's. I've spent my whole life crying "for no reason" and a lot of the times I end up finding there is a reason that has little to do with me personally.

Tears are a form of social signalling that evolved from mammalian distress calls – a clear visual signal in other words that someone is in pain or danger and needs help. British neurologist Michael Trimble recently linked crying to the human capacity for empathy – hence our propensity to weep during inspiring music.

So let's shed a tear... a tear for the other ones

For me it happens if I face a problem, and I don't allow my feelings to get out from me (mainly not before others).
So after some problems, I just feel that everything is collapsing on me / within me, and I'd start crying or being under myself for seemingly no reason; however, this is just my accumulated tension and feelings trying to get out...
Think about it, maybe there is something similar going on with you.
I hope I could help you, even if a little bit. :)
