I think Steamboat28 came at the same point much more directly.
My advice to you really is to continue being happy, upbeat and positive and perhaps you'll rub off on them

Issues regarding laziness or quality of work should be handled by a manager before it becomes an issue. When I worked for the RAF we had a problem with tea drinkers and mobile phone users, one day I just fired about 20 guys. Most of the women were absolutely vile too so we'd just make them do stuff on their own to avoid problems (couldn't fire these because that'd be even more trouble)... I remember them ganging up on a couple of welsh guys... Good thing though was they never did overtime whilst everyone else was doing 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Health and safety dude was a major pain too, had to get him off our backs as well. You can't get people to spend so much time together without letting them screw around with the equipment a little. At the end of the day we had a good team, became more efficient than the facility supposed to replace us ( I know, right?
), and had plenty of fun.... With the only issues arising being linked to insufficient amount of equipment (especially the light remotes
)

Steamboat has some good points, and I agree wholeheartedly...
But, not trying to help, doesn't say what you can do, lol...
I am around people all the time who wail and moan about stuff that really shouldn't matter... Complain for the sake of complaining...
Most of the time, it seems these people have the need to speak, so the say something, and its easy to criticize, so that's what happens...
I try to offer opposing view, reasons why things are like they are, or why they might be...
"He's lazy" -could be tired from kids/work/wife/be sick....
"Look how she's dressed" - could be a horse show in town (happened tonight, one young lady in shorts and cowboy boots [wife ask if I saw her, "nope, who?"
] I commented it was unusual dress, but hey, my parents thought/think Im weird, and then 20 minutes later saw a girl in jeans tshirt and cowboy boots with spurs) I said maybe girl one didn't bring tennis shoes to wear to Walmart...
Who knows the backstory to people and why they do what they do?
All we can really do I'd listen....
And like Steamboat says, when they want help, they will ask, right now, they want an audience...

I deal with those people by eating 4 eggs, 2 cans of beans, onions, garlic, and then silently passing gas near them.

This is an excellent thread.
One thing to remember if it has not already been said, a simple word of concern on your part will be the center of focus in the investigation. In other words, your words will be turned against you when the other employee is in the hot seat. The other employee will throw you under the bus to save themselves.
This is the most important lesson we can learn from this thread so far. (in my opinion)

considering before I speak if what I'm about to say has more value than the silence I'm replacing.
