I posted a thread about the science aspect of it here;

Indeed, he was. He also lived in a time when thought crime was still a thing.

I'll offer an opinion on your question.
Throughout history people have observed lunar eclipses. Because they didn't have telescopes or understood the mechanics of what was happening some pretty rich myths were created to explain the phenomenon they were seeing. It's a lunar eclipse. That's it.
For the many traditions that suggest the blood moon is a harbinger of doom or something negative for mankind's future may as well have a myth that the rising tides of the ocean are a sign of bad things to come.
The lunar eclipse is a beautiful feature of nature that happens mechanically and, thanks to science, predictably.
Another thing I thought was pretty neat about the eclipse was how many tens of thousands of people were looking up to see it at the same time I was! A simple event captured the minds and attention of many of us even if for a few moments. An acquaintance of mine was in Las Vegas at the time and noted how many people on the streets stopped to look up and how many cab drivers got out of their cars to look up.
That's pretty cool too.

What's the point? You had a nicely written reply about being a romantic for those times and how much respect you have for "imagineers" (great term, too), and then ended with a sentence about Galileo being a Christian. That's it. As if that were a point in and of itself. Care to help me out with this one?

"In the wee hours of Tuesday (April 15) morning, the moon slid into Earth’s shadow, casting a reddish hue on the moon. There are about two lunar eclipses per year, according to NASA, but what’s unusual this time around is that there will be four blood moons within 18 months — astronomers call that a tetrad — and all of them occur during Jewish holidays."
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord,” Joel 2:31 says." "The four eclipses occur on April 15 and Oct. 8, 2014, and April 4 and Sept. 28" "10The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters. 11The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter. 12The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way".…
"But NASA does not consider tetrads as especially rare, saying in a statement that there will be eight sets of tetrads before the year 2100. The most unique thing about the upcoming tetrad is that they are visible from all or parts of the United States, NASA stated".
Nothing to fear or just Big Government playdown to keep fear in check? Purley fact or fiction we may always spectulate but to know the real truth we will have to behold and if it is to occour may we all remain steadfast in the force on the path to light May The Force Be With Us All.
This post in no way is meant to bring fear or predjuce against any religion or culture just purely up for disscusion or debate.
