Is anyone else here a fan of origami?

I started when I was very young because I had a book about it that my mother had brought home for me by chance. I've found that when I'm stressed and/or haven't had much free time, making a few origami figures really helps me focus on the moment and concentrate. I struggle meditating by breath because I just began practicing this year, but I find it much easier to focus myself on the way the paper and folds feel against my hands, and watching my hands move the paper.

I would really like to get back into origami, but I lost my books. And I keep forgetting to use the internet to my advantage.

I love origami although I have no book, I learned some figures from others.
In grade 11 and 12 we made the 3d 30 edged stars during the lessons (and at home) and sold them in our school. With the money we financed our graduation party.

I've dabbled since I was a kid, but primarily just to have a kind of party trick to show others, from memory.

I really enjoy it and would like to take it further, I just never got round to it. Some day :)

I love origami ! (I have had quite a number of Japanese students by the past)

Then again, just having a desk in the shape mine is in doesn't necessarily qualify ...

I appreciate the art-form but I haven't ever pursued it... unless making paper planes counts???

I just find it fascinating how someone can imagine an object and then find a way to express that using a single piece of paper.

I am a fan!

And haven't "folded" in years...

Still have books, and paper, i just don't make the time,....

I started because I like to make people smile, and learned money oragsmi so I could not only leave a tip, but bring a smile to my servers face...:)

What's a few minutes since I'm being waited on,....

Dang debit card got me away from that...

Going to have to fix that...;)

Entering the classroom where next I taught - a single origami figure rested on an empty desk. Each day another tiny offering greeted me there. The artist first colored then folded creating bright, intricate designs. Left behind, I migrated them beside my podium. Over the semester, anonymous’ collection grew. From podium they journeyed to office and finally home where now, years later, they fill a ceramic bowl surrounded by calligraphic markings and fondness.

This was a beautiful story Alan! Maybe the anonymous crane maker was trying to give you a wish! There is a myth that says if someone makes 1000 paper cranes they get a wish.
