If you are looking for more mellow and traditional Japanese music - something I enjoy is Honkyoku. These songs are played on the Shakuhachi (a traditional Japanese flute). Though I haven't really come across any that are as sad as some of Toshiro Masuda's works. But still enjoyable. Here is an example:

I also enjoy the Shamisen. Very versatile. Can be slow and sad or fast and upbeat. Seeking out this instrument might lead you to a musician or band that grabs you. Yoshida Brothers (as recommended Vesha) are great and have a wide range. I would also throw in Monsters of Shamisen with them. Fun band.

If you want mellow I recommend Agatsuma Hiromitsu - Solitude. Mellow, lovely, can really make one reflect. The album I have: The Best Of Hiromitsu Agatsuma -Freedom- I highly recommend. Here is an example:

I am pretty sure the similarity ends at two guys with their faces/heads covered. Though the two pictured are not the ones playing the music. That is actually Mihaly Fliegauf. So Mihaly just happened upon footage of Daft Punk during their time-traveling musical adventures and used it in his video.

Bleach definitely has some killer soundtracks....

I love when classical stuff is combined with modern....and when rock and rap do some cross overs....run dmc/ aerosmith's "walk this way", anything beastie boys, some limp bizkit, some kid rock, some uncle kracker, swollen member etc...
