Again... doesn't surprise me. I sometimes wonder if they truly are set out to ruin the country.

I don't think it's so much to destroy the country as it is an attempt to cling to the past....there are many that are in support of isolationism....however that policy lead to pearl harbor...we cannot isolate ourselves from the world...too many countries depend on us, and we depend on them...the world is integrated, not a bunch of isolated pockets...

I have no problems with requiring ID for voting, so long as its not associated to the vote itself and just the action of meeting a mandatory requirement to vote.... otherwise it sounds pointless. I think election spending should be capped perhaps. It looks bizarre to see how much time, energy and money goes into US party and election campaigning - no wonder the media seems to be becoming divided on politics, its probably become within their financial interests to appeal to one side or the other rather then be unbiased (professional). I guess Im confusing journalism with media, news with entertainment, knowledge with emotion... oooops.

Requiring an id is one thing, but the ridiculous "requirements" to obtain it is the issue...if you're male you're already required to register for the draft at 18, while registering you're given the option to register to vote, same when you apply for a license...both of which are fine..

Having to take a "test" to register to vote is pushing it....and a voter id card plus a photo id should be all you need to go vote....but it isn't in some places...some precincts/states require the voter id, plus 2-3 other forms of id including at least 2 picture id's....now in florida you can't legally have 2 photo ids that are state issued so how do you provide 2 photo ids?...and they don't accept a social security card as valid id, but will accept a birth certificate?....you should see all the crap you need just to get a license...a photo id, birth certificate, and 3 bills with your name and address...just to get a photo id has the same requirements....

Should of seen how agitated it made me when I got my license back...my info should have been in the system since my license was still current when it was suspended...but apparently they "purged" the system to implement the new "requirements"....

I was almost escorted out by security...which was an on duty sherriff's deputy...

Great post. The financial injustices around the world are mind blowing. It is something I try not to dwell on too long because I always end up frustrated beyond belief. I often feel that it's going to take a huge natural disaster to wake us up and change the course we're on as a society.

For now we are going back to the times of kings and peasants.

Here is a good article that points us in the right direction and gives us a good idea what would need to happen for us to pull out of this financial mess.

Even registered voters don't vote. It's sad.

@ wes...yes it's a jacked up state...as the saying we have goes: come on vacation, leave on probation, return in violation....

@ rickey...it is sad that many registered voters don't vote....last election I was turned away at the polling station because I didn't have all the required id's that they would accept...even though I had my voter id and a wallet full of ids...including my totjo clergy id(which is a photo id)...fortunately I had planned ahead and requested an absentee ballot just in case....
