Guys, focus. Its not 'list every good book you ever read'. Its one book. And yes, I put 3, but 2 fiction and one non. So nyah.

...which is why I haven't posted anything. How do you narrow it down to one!?
I've decided on Eastern Body Western Mind by Anodea Judith

And for fiction - anything by Pearl S. Buck

So many people mentioned Ishmael that I downloaded it yesterday. So far, I understand why so many agree! :)

For those into The Secret, yes Law of Attraction is real to an extent, but in my opinion that book and the way it is promoted is propaganda. Take a look at this short video series "How Conscious Rap Creates Ignorant and Maleable People." You aren't going to get rewarded by just thinking happy positive thoughts, the universal energy/God/the Force is NOT a jinni in a bottle! As Joseph Campbell has said in his Transformations of Myth Through Time lectures, in order to see you need light AND SHADOW!

"Parts of Hinduism have been made trendy, and in India this religion has destroyed the people because it teaches you that people who are poor have been reincarnated as peasants because of something bad they did in a past life. Hinduism is being promoted because it programs people to sort themselves in a divinely ordered class system that is justified because of actions in some past existence. Poor people are cursed with bad karma so interacting with them too much can spread their bad karma to you as well."

in christianity, we have original sin, the concept that all humanity is sinful due to the actions of 2 people who may or may not have existed millenia ago in a place that also may or may not have existed.

but youre sinful, be sure of that.

I thought long and hard about this question...

I believe the best book I've ever read, is the book I'm reading now.

That's how I am with my anime series!

Best book I'd recommend though? The Tao of Pooh I'd say.

“Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.” -Zhuangzi

“Though, as the crusade presses on, I find myself altogether incapable of staying here in saftey while others shed their blood for such a noble and just cause. For surely must the Almighty be with us even in the sundering of our nation. Our fight is for freedom, for liberty, and for all the principles upon which that aforementioned nation was built.” - Patrick “Madman of Galway” O'Dell

Funny story, I think, on Fifty Shades of Gray...

When I first heard the book title spoken out loud it sounded like a philosophy or psychology book (you know, not everything is black and white, reserve judgment). I decided to venture over to Amazon and read a little more about it before downloading on my Kindle...

Quickly figured out that wasn't philosophy,

Speaking of reading, I found this online from a local radio station:

http://ktar.com/22/1667718/Phx-library-holds-Star-Wars-reading-event

HOENIX -- "The Force" is strong at one Phoenix library.

On Saturday, the Rebel Alliance and Imperial Forces came from all across the galaxy to set aside their differences for one, united purpose: A "Star Wars Reads Day" at Barton Burr Central Library.

Lucasfilm began the event last year to get kids excited about reading. More than 30 authors and 1,500 costumed volunteers took part in 1,200 events all over North America.

Saturday marks the first time, however, that the Phoenix Public Library system has participated in the event.

But just like the Battle of Endor or the destruction of the Death Star, the library enlisted some help to pull off the big celebration.

"Bookman's (Entertainment Exchange) contributed raffle prizes and the photo booth, and Samurai Comics donated some prizes, as well," said Kelly Pearson, Literacy Outreach Librarian. "Friends of Phoenix Public Library paid for the free books and (Arizona Republic's) Seasons of Sharing paid for all the supplies we used today."

'Star Wars' fan and duelist Michael Whyman, 35, even brought his golf bag full of actual lightsabers for the kids to play with.

More than 330 kids and adults participated in the library's event, which included an obstacle course, drawing and coloring stations, a balloon artist and storytime.

"It was absolutely a success. I think everyone had fun," Pearson said. "We got to share some literacy tips with the parents, and hopefully they can go home and do activities like this with their kids.

"And having Darth Vader here never hurts, too."

So let's keep the best books coming! That's right, books. Let's expand it to multiple books. I'll throw another one out there that everyone should read:

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (also free on the Kindle if you have one).
