Little acts of kindness. These can be little things that some people don't even stop to think about. A specific example of that would be holding the door at a store for someone coming through (I do that almost daily) or putting a little extra as a tip for your server.

The acts of kindness that seem more important to me, however, are those that better yourself as well as benefiting others. Personally for me I can think of two things.

Act of kindness one for me is joining the National Guard. I am joining the military both so I can better myself and so that I may have the opportunity to protect or otherwise help someone in need. If I do not have the strength to protect those who can't protect themselves I will strive to gain that strength. Having the ability to better myself and simultaneously better the community around me seems to be the greatest act of kindness I can show.

Act of kindness two would be training to be a Knight here at TOTJO. Similarly to joining the military my goal is to both better myself and serve the community around me. For what more could I hope to achieve than to better myself and all of the people I come into contact with. When I become a knight I will have gained a position in which I an better serve the community here and that is what matters to me. I will be able to provide more assistance and better the lives of those around me.

Acts of kindness shouldn't be things you have to "sacrifice" for. They should be things where there is gain on all sides, including your own.

May the Force be with you,
Rai

Driving the Humvee (not mine, Uncle Sam's) to refuel last weekend...

...there are 2 little girls sitting in what I assume are their parents yard with a pitcher, some solo cups and a big sign that says, "Lemonade .25 cents."

When we got to the refuel point, I tell the rest of the trucks to follow me on the way back.

We pulled our entire convoy over, and polished off both of their pitchers.

I gave them a $20 for their refreshments. :)

It is believed in my culture, that saying good things you've done, will reduce their value... :P

If in vocalizing what I believe to be good deeds I can inspire another to do good deeds, than the value of my good deeds is most definitely not diminished.

IT depends on how the good deeds are stated. if you are bragging about your good deeds then you are only doing them for yourself and not for others. But if it is to push others to do the same and not really pointing the fact to your self then it is not bragging and is a good deed in itself
