If you ruled the world.. was created by
how would you do it?

personally, i would as my first act remove all patent laws, and then i would just watch the world unfold into perfection right under my watchful eyes.

next thing after that would be, real punishments for sexual misconduct and violence, rather than no punishment at all like in many countries.

then i would make the option of euthanasia available to anyone with illnesses of fatal kind.

HMM.. thats it, with those minor tweaks, everything would become perfect.

and jail punishment would include being forced as labor.

so, how would you rule the world? =]

If I ruled the world, id probably institute a draft and mandate pproduction be put on a wartime footing, as an interstellar invasion is the only thing that could create enough fear to make a singular world ruler possible. Now most of you probably think I would then spearhead some sort of aging tactical strike unit like those geezers in 'the expendables', but that probably wouldn't happen. If I ruled the sworld, I would delegate to top generals area of operation in various strategic areas, or something.

My milspeak is clearly getting rusty, and I'm not inthe right frame of mind anyway...the dog and I just finished a lovely shaded riverside hike and are now cooling off under a tree. Ha. So I probably wouldn't be the guy for all that anyway.

The Loss of the Pearl of Great Price
The prince discovered, when he returned from the top of the mountain, that he had mislaid the Pearl of Great Price up on the mountain. He sent his generals and their armies to search for it, but they could not find it. He employed Huang-Ti, the vehement debater, to find the Pearl; but Huang-Ti was unable to find it. He sent his gardeners and his skilled artisans to find it, but they, too, came home empty-handed. Finally, in despair, having tried everyone else, he sent Purposeless to the mountain, and Purposeless found the Pearl immediately. "How odd it is", mused the Prince, "that it was Purposeless who found it!"

(paraphrased from Chuang T'zu)

So, to answer the question : ... by not having too many goals.

Tao Te Ching – 8

The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to.
It is content with the low places that people disdain.
Thus it is like the Tao. In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present. When you are content to be simply yourself
and don't compare or compete,
everybody will respect you.

Be a philosopher ; but, amidst all your philosophy, be still a man.
~ David Hume

Chaque homme a des devoirs envers l'homme en tant qu'homme.
~ Henri Bergson

I'd encourage everyone to lead their own life instead of relying on others to do it for them. We're all capable.

If I ruled the world I'd be a dictator? That wouldn't be good no matter what my intentions are.

If I ruled the world I'd make myself ruler of one country, let the others choose their rulers and compete against them to see who's the best ruler and whose political theories actually work best (no war allowed).
