I think that in any case like this, straight or gay, you should not face charges if the relationship began before you turned 18. That should be obvious. Are you just supposed to end your relationship because one of you had a birthday? That just seems ridiculous to me.

it doesn't matter why, it's against the law
and the point is....
maybe someone need to think about, and something like...
is not at 18 yo, maybe something like, more than xx years of difference...

there is not much difference in maturuty at 15,16,17, or 17,18 yo

laws can be wrong, don't know

as far as I can see, right now it's against the law, that's all

My point was just that it wasn't against the law when the relationship began. There should be an exemption for cases like this one where the relationship began when both people were under 18. There should be no reason the charges wouldn't be dropped in this case.

Agreed Abhaya

Personally I think the courts should ask the younger girl, "did you at any time feel as though you were being taken advantage of," or something to that nature.

the thing is, because the girl was under 16, she was unfit to know whether she was being taken advantage of or not. that's the whole point of having a sexual majority (or any kind of majority actually): before majority, people are not considered to be capable of knowing for themselves.

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

In the universal declaration of human rights. Obviously the US aren't big on human rights, but surely even over there there should be protection from interference with people's privacy, family, home ?

Nan, ren ...

Remember, I used to live there.

They've got the privacy of the home if one spouse wants to beat on the other one for thirty years. Just don't beat your boyfriend - because that makes you a pervert.

If I raised a hand to my wife she'd knock me through the wall and then make me fix it. :)

I'm pretty sure your not implying its legal to beat your spouse over here because it isn't.

is not matter of anyone, what or with who, you go to bed (if both adults), is a personal choice (not always I know), is like someone goes against me because I like french fries...
