In-groups and out-groups ...
White and (vs.) black ...
Life looks a little unjust from the inside of a paradigm shift.
Let's wait and see ; heretics and martyrs are part of the game.
Sad, but [strike]true[/strike] usual.

People want stasis, so they destroy change in order to maintain what they have now. While we may not charge people with felonies, we also do this. We judge those who cling to the past because we "want" change.
Everybody wants something. As Jedi, we strive to look for the most compassionate ending for any trouble. This is what sets us apart from those who bring harm to others.
Of course, separation is an illusion. We are as much monsters underneath our consciousness as they who persecute.

The reason it was reported might be religiously motivated but the results aren't (so far as I can tell) which is something at least...
There has been some debate in Britain about the criminalisation of young people in relationships because they go over the made up line... There is no distinction in law between a 50 year old sex offender and a young 18 year old boy...
We just have to hope for fair people in charge of the application of the law...

And they can be used to serve someone’s agenda with little regard to “truth.”
Yes, facts are true. Yes, the legal system is supposed to be based on what is provable. I am not arguing that. I say this because I know that someone will read the part prior and confront me for saying it based on some distorted view on what I said.

Not sure why they call it "battery" though ?
Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.

ren wrote: May have nothing to do with homosexuality. 18 year old "going out" with a 15 year old is paedophilia: An adult engaging in sexual acts with a child (someone under 16). Some parents are going to be cool with it, gay or hetero, some aren't. Either way, if the law says it isn't cool, don't complain when you get caught.

Battery:
Battery is a criminal offence involving unlawful physical contact, distinct from assault which is the apprehension, not fear, of such contact.
So for an 18 year old to have sexual relations with someone under the age of 18 it is sexual battery.

Personally I think the courts should ask the younger girl, "did you at any time feel as though you were being taken advantage of," or something to that nature. If she says no to this question then it should be dropped and no further action taken on the older girl at all. Plus the older girl could possibly make the case that no contact had been made between them after she turned 18. Not sure if that is true or not, but it could be a good point to bring up. This does not even begin to describe my full thoughts on the matter, but I do not feel like writing a twenty page report on how cases like this should be handled.
