Mind game :) was created by
Greetings Each Bows

Have a look at this and tell me what it means to you. It is a bit of fun but it also has important meaning. There is no right or wrong it just depends how you look at it

You have a cup which will hold 300 ml of liquid. It has exactly 150ml of water in the cup. You must hold the cup, either right or left hand.

What does the cup of water represent to you ?

Enjoy :)

Yours in Budo

Mike

The fact that there's space for 150ml of vodka? ;)

This is a tricky one because I think most people have been exposed to the cup half full, half empty concept. And some would answer with the "it's full because the other half is filled with air" debate.

I think what it represents to me is just a metaphor for perspective, but then I wonder if that isn't the smart Alec answer and I've missed it's real meaning.

No, cup is simply too large for the amount of water it currently contains; it is neither sufficient or insufficient, it simply is.

That was totally going to be my first option for a smarty pants zen like answer. Honest. ;p

But if the cup is too large, then would you not consider it incorrect or insufficient for the purpose. Would it not be better to say, the cup contains something, which is its purpose, so it is perfect.

Way to make me look bad ;)

*edit so Brenna's apology makes sense*
Why couldn't I have thought of that one?

I'm so sorry, I was just following your train of thought...

Ps, don't edit stuff while I'm poring out an eloquent appology that then makes no sense!

*great, now I look bad for bullying you into re-editing. And this wasnt my original apology, there was grovelling.

Life - lifesaving. I'm thirsty so that water will be gone in a mere moment, and I'll take the cup with me when I return to the tap...or if you're in a survival situation just thing of all the ways you could use a cup.

I'd like to say something witty or something that sounds really impressive; but....

The only thought going through my head when I imagine that situation is, "Why am I holding half a glass of water? If I drink it, I can put down the cup and go on."

I guess the cup could represent one's ability to retain knowledge and wisdom. But, my first thoughts are not, what's the liquid in the cup or does it taste good. I thought, "lets drink it and go on." So, I guess for me it's not so important how well one can retain what they learn (or how much they have learned) as much as what they do with it once they have it. ;)
