I soooo want to put a natural pool out back, but we have so many mosqueto's here in Michigan, I am afraid the pool will just become a natural breeding ground >_<

Salt water pools have been a thing for a few years now. Using salt instead of chlorine. Not sure if they utilize no chemicals though.

I've only ever swam in either natural bodies or chlorine pools. I'd love to swim in a saltwater pool!
Maybe when we settle down we can get enough land to do a natural pool. I want a Koi pond anyways
Add a few Gambusia for the mosquitoes and we're good to go
although maintaining a pond in the desert is going to be fun

A chemical free pool would be amazing! I love going to pools but I hate the smell and the feeling that chlorine leaves on you. I hadn't heard of salt water pools, that could be cool. I've swam in the ocean and that was pretty good (aside from constantly being alert for sea monsters  ).
Yet another good thing that is big in Europe that we Americans don't do for some reason. Sometimes I feel like Americans are just too stubborn to take European advice. Like when someone you don't like gives you good advice and you don't want to take it just because you couldn't stand the idea of them being right. Natural pools and the giant list of foods and chemicals that are pretty much only legal for consumption in the US. Seriously America, get with the program.
Sorry, that was a little off topic.
Cannon ball back into the metaphorical natural pool that is being on topic!

I gotta salt water pool, and unfortunately it still has chlorine in it. It's got a widget thingamebob attached to the pump and filter which chlorinates the salt water as it pumps water through.
It's much better then physically keeping chlorine levels high in a pool, because the salt seems to do most of the work, and the chlorination just adds a bit to kill the algae. So its not as bad as a chlorine pool, but not chlorine free. At least as far as my experience of them goes.
When I"m too lazy to use it (like through winter) and don't want to spend a fortune running the pump every day I will just throw in a chlorine tablet and treat it like a chlorine pool until summer rocks up and then let the chlorine levels drop and start using the pump and chlorinator again for reduced chlorine swimming (or floating around as I prefer).
Love the link in the OP!!! Wow, add fish for company :silly:

I'm doing a natural swimming pool that's attached to an aquaponics system that produces trout and cannabis. I'll see your cannonball and raise you a CANNABIS-BALL!!!!
Oh and FYI the fish eat bugs plus you can go fishing and the fish poo is the food for the plants so there's no maintenance other than pipes and pumps.

I was thinking about the mosquitos...
Actually, as long as there were few "still" places, and the water surface had movement, mosquitoes will be less likely to lay eggs....
