I'm curious about male steroids. I saw some kind of ads for some new diet and they claim to give people steroids and show before/after photos where they've changed dramatically. Of course, throughout my life I've seen people take roids and go and change their appearance... I also have seen the male-to-female transition photos so I know it can be quite dramatic.

What really peaked my curiosity was the photos where these guys take male steroids and go from feminine to more masculine. They lose their moobs, lose their beer-guts, their shoulders get bigger, faces more square, etc. Is that typical?

Messing with hormone levels brings risks, the body most often senses the elevated levels and can basically shut down the natural production of it!! So when you stop supplementing, your body has reduced or no capacity to create them itself, at least for some time. For some hormone's this can cause serious problems, such as corticosteroid's. So you'd have to look at what effects this would have with testosterone. Eg: a side effect of using testosterone can actually be manboobs (gynecomastia)!! Body builders talk about it a lot, and use specific programs to manage the side effects while trying to get maximum support for the other growing muscle activities (exercise, recovery, diet).

I've read Fenugreek can help raise/support natural testosterone production, and then there is things like Horny Goat Weed and Tribulus, though I'm no doctor or sports scientist.

steroids are artificial hormones, which are useful for a wide range of things such as viral infections. Anabolic steroids are artificial testosterone, which cause body hair growth, male sex growth, body hair growth, muscle growth, etc.

What you're referring to is a steroid to push a major increase in testosterone. Typically, all one needs to do is speak to their physician about their concern about the level of testosterone their body is producing. If the tests come back that one's T production is lower than normal, they can recommend T boosters or steroids. I'm sure you can imagine what is chosen more often. I have a friend who did this and had similar results to what you described. I'm not going to give you all the answers, but there are lots of resources on the internet that include the research on such things. Be leery of bias, though. There are advocates who will make false claims to sell you on the idea, or who will leave out negative side effects to make it seem better than it is.

On a different note, there are things one can do to naturally increase their T production. Diet and exercise play a major role in it, as well as the amount of sleep you get at night. Even cold showers/baths and cold weather help.

So, whatever you decide, I would only suggest to leave steroids as the very last resort. Just my 2¢.

Thanks everyone. I do intend to talk to my primary physician first and only then take what is prescribed. I just don't know what to talk to them about. I'm not interested in enhanced performance or body building. I don't want small testicles or balding or boobs. My main concern for myself is that I made to about 40 years old and I didn't get all the way through male development. I mean I got some super serious hormone stuff like hair everywhere and I'm kinda tall and built like a brick sh!thouse but there's just something wrong like a bad development in my arms, moobs, face, and shoulders. It's just bad enough that gay men love me and women cry when they see me. haha

Are you sure its a hormonal thing and not just a poor muscle to body fat ratio?

As men age their Testosterone levels reduce dramatically. There are several symptoms of this occurrence. Lack of energy, drive (both physical and sexual) and increased body fat. It has been shown that bringing the testosterone levels back up to where they were at an earlier stage in the individual’s life will counter these effects.

I would talk to my doctor about the possibility of having reduced testosterone, but the symptoms are usually not prevalent in men until later in life. I mean 40+. Also, I would guard against synthetic treatments. There are all natural (or at least I remember hearing something about them) treatment plans to regain previous testosterone levels if needed.

Yes, I'm pretty sure. I did 2 years of aerobic conditioning in college and Army boot camp but even though I was in top shape, it didn't matter. My body just reacted like bruce lee sort of. Never gaining more mass, just toning infinitely. Anyway, if there's some natural means to doing this, I've probably tried it already.
If I had to throw up a photo to show what I'm talking about:

And so I would be the type A face on the left(feminized) and would think I should look more like the one on the right(standard male). Maybe that's a hormone thing, I dunno.
