while I believe someone caught with a drug should be decriminalized and only the dealers and such should be arrested, I still do not like the idea of drugs. I could understand MJ being legalize, but not really anything else. even then smoking is bad for the lungs and it messes with some of your brain chemistry, so the things like hobbies and other things you did that make you happy give you less and less dopamine until you become dependent on the drug for it.
That is what they said in health class anyway, but I've never done it, just my sister and she is constantly stealing everyone's money to get high with her friend.
not to mention it is illegal as of now and I would hate to se you or your girlfriend in trouble for something as minuscule as wanting to smoke a joint.

just my thoughts.

If she just didn't want you to try it around her because it smells like danky unpleasantness after you do it, I'd be on her side. It's stinky, but besides that scenario, I'd say she's being kind of extreme about it.

(Btw, I don't use it, but I'm not against pot usage or legalization.)

She doesn't want me using it for the following reasons.

1. It is currently an illegal substance.
2. She is unsure how it will affect my mental state.

I see. To be fair the fact that it's illegal is quite stupid. Honestly I think alcohol is WAY worse than pot.

There are other substances that give you a similar high like pot would that are legal, such as K-2, but they're loaded with odd chemicals, and in my opinion, are less safe.

I'm sure within the next couple years it'll be legal almost everywhere in the US regardless, so I'm sure you'll get a chance to do it legally if you choose to.

Therein lies the crux.....

Whats more important?

We can't make the e cosine for you, which would seem more important?

My wife said, "You don't have to quit smoking, but, if you want to be with me you won't."

Well, we are married..;)

My brain chemistry is already fucked up. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder - Type 1 as a child and have to take psychotropic drugs to manage my mental state. Medical marijuana would allow me a natural means to manage my mental state in the same way as it has been proven in studies to be a safe, effective treatment for those suffering from Bipolar.

It is currently in the process of being legalized in my state (New York), so I am hopeful that it will be, and I can start to use it and manage my conditions naturally.

So long and thanks for all the fish

I would do more research into Marijuana if I were you.

Also, anything you put into your body messes with your brain chemistry.

Your body is essentially a cocktail of drugs interacting.

Food itself effects dopamine levels.

It is quite a large myth that your other hobbies and interests will fade.

Smoking is bad for your lungs, but Marijuana can also be eaten, and vaporized.

I really don't understand why people are all up in a fuss about weed. As an ex-smoker (of tobacco), I can't recommend inhaling anything other than the cleanest air the Earth provides you regularly and perhaps a delicious meal, but that's a different story. :P

Thing is, weed temporarily changes your perception of reality. It's mostly subtle and you generally just feel at ease like someone wrapped you in a nice big blanket, but at the same time you can't feel things as well. You may have to pee or it might just be an itch. You may have burned your hand while stoking a fire out camping or maybe that's just the feeling of your blood pulsating inside your skin. For the people around you, it can be frustrating if you're not yourself. It seems perfectly legit for your gf to want you to be the person she is interested rather than someone altered by marijuana. It sounds to me like she's become accustomed to her friend he's changed, but at the same time she enables him to practice bad coping skills (ignoring rather than addressing the emotional pain).

But it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.

Well coming from a medical 215 patient from California, (Of over 5 years). Let me tell you, these skeptical perspectives are fun. :P
Perhaps I may be a seen as a little biased towards this medicines benefit and well being for all...
I find myself saying,"Do what you feel is right."
What does your heart say?
What does your head say?
My opinion:
You brain chemistry changes as you go through life, is this any reason to not have an experience?
I have been diagnosed... Many of labels, many of times, with which I do not identify with... Maybe you accept the condition, either way, as I see it, on love, if your signifigant other cannot appreciate nor accept you for who you are, maybe you are better off. Chances are, and this is my opinion, from a sub conscious level, a scare tactic to use fear in order to have an expected relationship on her terms... No one likes ultimatums... Say you turned the tables, "I will not be with you, if you indulge in wine." (Or something in that effect.)
Absurd... Completely... The whole idea of not accepting an individuals freedom to be, who they are...
