Mary Jane & her friends

After recently getting in "nothing fight" with my girlfriend over my desire to try some Mary Jane, I thought I would make a post here to get some other peoples opinions.

My girlfriend and I have a mutual friend who we have both known since our childhoods, who has been smoking pot for a long time. This friend also grows and sells weed. She claims she can't tell him not to use pot since he has been using it for so long, and in addition uses it as a coping tool to deal with the tragic death of his family. It seems hypocritical to me that she is fine with our mutual friend using pot, but not with the idea of me doing so.

I have no problem with people using Mary Jane, or other drugs. I believe people in a free country should be allowed to live the lives they desire, even if those lives involve dependent drug usage. Drugs are not the problem. The problem is the culture we live in which criminalizes drug use, regulates it, and tell us what substances we can and cannot consume.

Your girlfriend has the right to express her opinion and have her 'rules'....

You have the right to choose to smoke pot... But, your girlfirend has the right to not want to be with someone of different values...

Then you have the right....

Then she has the right....

Then....

Then....

So, ultimatlely, you need to decide how important it is, and the possible outcomes...

Ya know?

For the record, I am pro-legalization...

Because I am curious as to what the experience would be like, and I enjoy satiating my curiosities.

Not really, but I am aware of the risks of short term memory loss, interference with medications I am taking, etc....

I still want to do it, but I promised my girlfriend I wouldn't. So unless we break up or it is legalized, I won't be doing it anyway

What were your girlfriend's reasons for not wanting you to try it? I'm not judging but trying pot really isn't a big deal. If it was coke or heroin, I could understand the problem. Why is she so against it?

If she just didn't want you to try it around her because it smells like danky unpleasantness after you do it, I'd be on her side. It's stinky, but besides that scenario, I'd say she's being kind of extreme about it.


(Btw, I don't use it, but I'm not against pot usage or legalization.)

She doesn't want me using it for the following reasons.

1. It is currently an illegal substance.
2. She is unsure how it will affect my mental state.

So she is appealing to the unknown and authority in her reasoning?
