I've very, very often heard (from exercise gurus to scientists) that it's important to give yourself a day off from any serious muscle-building workout. One of my best friends disagrees with this wholeheartedly, calls me a pansy, and continues to shred himself 5 days a week (and then wonder why he's always sore), but I tend to believe it.
Now, I'm trying (key word) to get back into a M-W-F schedule because I'm mostly disgusted with the way I feel, but I have no conception at all what to do with my off-days. Originally, I'd planned for T-Th to be a t'ai chi day, because it's very low-impact and does a lot for my health and sense of well-being, but honestly it works better as an every-day thing. My motivation is tied to scheduling, so if I don't do /something/ with that same block of time where I'd normally work out, I'll get lazy and quit because of the lack of consistency.
Ideas?

It doesn't even have to be anything strenuous. It just needs to be something I can do every day for the same amount of time, so that my brain is convinced that particular time slot is /always/ full except on weekends.
