We have a place for music - two of them, actually. We have a place for poetry. After I posted one of my favorite art pieces and saw Vergere82 do the same, I decided to start a thread for it. So, here, post your favorite visual art and perhaps why you like it.
Post your own work, too! :)

I realize tastes vary, but please keep in mind the site rules when doing so

I'm sure everyone's seen this one. Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh.
This was one of the first paintings I remember falling in love with when I was quite young. :)

I am fascinated by time... Always have been... I obsessed over it when I was younger, and hence, my fascination with the NOW...

Pretty much everything by Stephan Martinière ( www.martiniere.com ).

(Link to his Gallery)

I have a print of this one framed on my wall. I feel very connected to the piece. In many subtle ways it expresses who I am spiritually and emotionally.

Caravaggio. I was lucky enough to see this in person (its MASSIVE) in the cathedral in Valletta last year. It may not look like much, but its extraordinary. Id always loved it, but its imposing and remarkable in life.

John William Waterhouse's "The Lady of Shalott" (1888) is the most beautiful painting I've ever seen. Like Brenna said about the Caravaggio painting, seeing this in person is an extraordinary experience. If you happen to be in London at some point, stop by the Tate Britain and check it out. The depth of detail and color is genuinely breathtaking, and it conveys an indescribable level of emotion.
