If others thought you were a God...

I think this deserves a separate thread, Brenna. Would you be so kind? I am terribly curious.
Happy to oblige dear friend.
How shall we do this? Anyone who wants to know comments and people add their thoughts or shall I put together an anon survey monkey or something?
Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet
Part of the seduction of most religions is the idea that if you just say the right things and believe really hard, your salvation will be at hand.

If others thought you were a God
1) It's unlikely I'm a god. I'm pretty sure I'm just a man.
Wondering what god people see in me seems disingenuous.

This could be a fun game as long as people don't let their answers go to their heads.

Wondering which God/Goddess people think I am like seems like borderline hubris, but I'm game.
You're right, pondering ourselves as divine beings, superior to all else and gifted with dominion over lesser creatures and perhaps reality itself is teetering toward conceit.
I suspect most mortals see me as a raving sandwich-board wearing loony more than a god, but let's take this as given with a sort of Gaiman-esque "if I had been a God, and had to find new work once people stopped caring", I'd probably have been Nurgle, Urfather of Chaos and lord of plagues and despair.
I base this on the fact that, after sarcasm - scarification, and delicious food are my two very favourite things.

What's your passion? What part of the Divine shines through you? If you were part of a pantheon, what would your aspects be?
I bet you can guess what I am

Our Goddess of Excel?
Whoever she is, she is a fickle mistress, and in order for even her most devout clergy to keep her favour, a G3 Imac must be sacrificed upon an alter of graph paper every blood moon.
She also encourages throat punching hipsters, and people who use OpenOffice.
I don't claim to understand her will, only to serve it.

Kit wrote: Do we have a Goddess of the Stars?
I would want to be the Goddess of the Stars, or at least the Greek muse of the stars, Urania. When I visited the Colosseum in Rome years ago, there was an exhibit of statues in one of the corridors. I had a transformative experience when I saw the statue of Urania, her bare marble arm outstretched, a globe in her hand. In my mind for a long time after, I styled myself as Urania. When I walked through the English countryside with a notebook in hand, I thought of myself as creating worlds upon worlds without end, like the globe that Urania held. For awhile I had a blog called "Star Muse." I think I feel so deeply connected with Urania because gazing at the stars and feeling my own power as a human striding beneath them has been very important to me. Before I ever saw the statue of Urania, I made a habit of looking up at Orion every night, wherever I was in the world. I remember camping in the woods in high school and suddenly realizing that the stars I was looking at were the same stars that humans have looked at and wondered about for thousands of years.

Haha! That does look like fun! And since no one is playing the game in the OP...Kit wrote: haha I think it'd be fun to play with this. I know this was originally aimed at others picking out aspects but in lieu of that, what about we picking our own out? Who here is our God of CAT5? Our Goddess of Excel? Our Lord of Paint? Lady of the Weights? Do we have a Goddess of the Stars? God of the Kitchen? Father of Words? Mother of Beasts?

Warning: Spoiler!Kit is the Dame of Creation! Originally responsible for helping to shape the bodies and spirits (mostly animals and stone/gems), she's now the patron deity of artists, craftsmen, and engineers. Often symbolized as a running vixen (usually red, but have been known to be shown as the local fox) with simple feathers and beads tied into the fur behind her ears, she's responsible for delivering that strike of inspiration! Often cursed by her followers for her poor timing, her favorite time to work is the space between when you lay down in bed, and when you fall asleep. But you have to be quick! She can bolt right out the window if you wait too long.

While he works fairly well with other deities he is known to be aggressive (at times) and crafty. He is the god of human madness, not that he causes madness, but that he is half-mad most of the time and completely insane in fits and spurts. As the god of creative writing he is known to spur creativity and inspiration. In his aspect as the god of fictions and half-truths he is known for being somewhat deceitful or misleading, so one should always take his "suggestions" with a grain of salt.
Hahaha. That WAS fun! Thanks, Kit!
