Do you think Bigfoot actually exists? Do you think he is a real, living creature? Or a hoax?
What type of creature is bigfoot? (ape? neanderthal? mythical creature? etc...)
What do you think of the controversial Patterson Footage? (The famous video where you see "Bigfoot" walking on two legs, and then glancing back towards the camera.)
Anything you want to say about Bigfoot? (Anything related is fine here.)

I think he's completely mythical, just cannot see how he/she would have evaded capture for so long. Also bigfoot could not have come from nothing, there aren't many species of animal in the world of which only one exists as every living thing reproduces..
On a similar note I do think that if we become extremely technologically advanced, we should go to some more primitive planets in saucer shaped ships and leave weird crop circles all over the place..

It COULD be a myth, but you have to realize, only so much of this earth has been explored. Perhaps it is eluding us due to how fast it is, maybe an evolutionary step in it's genes to where it has some sort of stealth, but in retrospect to the question, he could and might very wel be a hoax or a myth...but If you study, a myth ORIGINATES from SOMEWHERE on this Earth. Perhaps it is a LONG extinct creature and we are just building onto the already large myth of it now. Remember, every generation has its storytellers, its monters, it's gods, etc.
Again, just my opinion on the matter

I was watching a pseudo-science documentary recently, on BigFoot, which sparked my small interest on the topic. Here are a few claims the documentary made...
- Bigfoot was a story/myth told far before Patterson (the first White American to make the subject popular). Native Americans have told stories of large-footed apes elusively roaming around American land.
- Patterson refused to admit that his footage (the Patterson footage) was fake and took his word with him to the grave. The footage has not been definitely proven a hoax. (Although I personally thought it was disproved by now...)
- There have been multiple BigFoot sightings (and encounters) by Puritan Americans living far before Patterson.
- Bigfoot might be an ape or some type of ancient human. For the first theory, it is possible that early Americans, interested in buying "exotic animals" for pets, bought apes in their infant stage. However, apes grow up fast, and when they're not in their "cute" stage anymore, they can be quite strong and hard to deal with. Therefore, these early Americans could have released their pet apes into the wild
> the apes would then reproduce over time
> many "BigFoots" across the USA.
- For the second theory, it is possible that BigFoot could actually be some type of neanderthal or ancient human. In contrast to most beliefs, neanderthals are fairly intelligent (but primitive) creatures with the same desires to survive as all of us. It is known, however, that modern day human beings have been responsible for the extinction of the neanderthals. However, people who believe that BigFoot is a neanderthal believe that the neanderthals were subject to NEAR extinction, and that they now remain elusive in order to avoid being hunted by humans. Of course, they slip up occasionally and another "Bigfoot" sighting happens.

I always heard that Big Foot was a spiritual being and that it showed itself to those who were deeply connected with nature. Of course, I've heard the fun horror stories too. Want to hear one my dad always tells? (He tells it much better, mind you)
There were these four men, loggers, back in the day (early 1900's). They were out in the middle of nowhere doing their job when they were frightened by this massive creature. They shot it, killing it. As they milled around in their excitement, for they'd never seen such a creature, large rocks hailed down on them from all around. The men quickly ran to the shelter of their small cabin as the other Big Foots, staying hidden in the trees, continued to throw rocks. The men were petrified and night was soon coming. They spent the night, gun in hand, listening to the creatures pound on their walls and throw stones. Towards dawn the noises stopped. When they finally got up the courage to look out they noticed the body was gone. The other creatures had taken it to presumably give it a burial. They packed up that day and high tailed it out of there.
Another story has a woman who gets her head smashed with a rock. Lovely, aint it?

I don't really have an opinion on the Patterson-Gimlin film - the evidence seems to go both ways on that matter - but as far as I can see, there is striking evidence for the existence of a tall homonid in Asia and North America, not to mention precedence of myth becoming real in the cases of the Giant Panda and the Mountain Gorilla. These things were believed to just be local folklore until the actual discovery of these creatures, and now we have something similar with all these "Wild Man" legends that are just waiting for us to actually encounter them.
Which is odd, because by the sheer number of stories we hear about them, there are encounters annually. And it can't just be simple misidentification, the particular people who tend to see these things are the type who are well aware of what they'd be seeing. Hunters and park rangers, for instance, would know the difference between a bear and a bigfoot. And as for attention seekers... well, there'd have to be an awful lot of those, huh? Which tends to leave them with far less than simply fifteen seconds of fame.
That's not to say all claims are real, of course. There are plenty of hoaxes and misidentifications out there. Same with UFOs and sea monsters, and various other cryptids and phenomena. But then there are the things that can't be simply explained away, and requires actual investigation.
By far the greatest mistake anyone can make is to believe they have learned all there is to know.

As of the patterson footage...
It looks exacly like a gorilla, but has proportions, posture and moves exactly like a human.
It stares at the camera, but doesn't react. Rather unlikelly for a living creature that have eluded humanity for so long.
So to me the answer is obvious.
But still... There might be an unknown species of ape somewhere, or it just was about to go extinct these 50 ears ago. Then again, are there any evidence in Indian folklore aging to the past 2000 years back that indicate that there might have been apes in Norht America?
But it doesn't matter any way, it's either just a hoax (Which it is in the case of most of the claims), or simply ape species that is long dead. Nothing interesting.
