The holidays are a happy time for many but can be dreaded if one has to spend them alone. Loneliness can creep in and instead of preparing for a nice time off work we dont look forward to Christmas and New Years eve. All we see on the internet and other media is happy families all coming together , sharing bliss , food and presents and the warm and fuzzy things that go with the holidays. For many of us though this is not the case. As much as we want to spend it with the people we love , this is not always possible. As a Jedi we teach ourselves not to get too attached, but we are also Human and can get a bit down when the Holidays are in sight. As much as we are there for eachother online , a house can feel empty and cold.
As important as it is to acknowledge the feelings we have about spending the Holidays alone , we can remember why we became Jedi in the first place. To be of service , that also can be lonely sometimes , but it gives us purpose outside of what being alone really means.
Maxime 15. Charity - In brightening everything on which it shines, Charity is love in action. We live on what we are given but build our lives on what we give.
There are many things we can do to make the Holidays more bearable , we can reach out to people online , we can volunteer at events , attent community events and invite neighbours to have a little get together. There are many things that we can distract ourselves with but we could also build in a little time to be grateful. Grateful for the things you have , grateful for online friends and community and the many other things we are blessed with. We are truly not alone and we can reach out and make someones Holidays a little less lonely.
But before that , we take care of ourselves first , we stay active: you can go for walks outside, we cab practice mindfulness: Spend time in nature, meditate, or try a walking meditation to focus on the present. And as i said we can focus on gratitude: Write down things you are grateful for and meditate on that. Some of us have lost a lot this year and i realise that , and still we are here , together on this planet.
You are not alone ! Happy Holidays and May the Force be with you Always !
